Nature Yoga on May 23rd at 8:15pm (nature yoga.com)
This class takes us off the mats into the free flow of our spirit, a chance to sweat out life stresses letting ourselves go to the rhythm of the music and dance. There are many disciplines that throughout time have helped guide people and communities through levels of consciousness to aid in healing and life guid- ance. Dance being similar to yoga in its kinesthetic approach can drive this change in brainwave activity to promote a sense of changed perception of self, harmony and connection with others. Music, rhythmic induction also aids us in dropping in to a meditative state, where we move with its pulses and relax the think- ing mind into a deeper awareness of self. In addition to the perhaps neurological and spiritual feelings of change accompanied with rhythm and the kinesthetic arts, we are also reminded that it feels good to shake out the cobwebs of hours of inactivity and stresses, to let loose the rigidity of hitting our marks throughout the day, the joy found in taking the time to be with and nurture ourselves. Taking this journey as a community helps us to stay with the moment, to motivate each other to explore purely by being in each others company.
Students will be led through basic movement visu- alizations to explore new movement vocabularies, preparing you to relax the thinking mind and get into your feet in a free improvisational format, concluding with Savasana, resting. Gabrielle Roth said “when we dance long and hard enough to cast off the world’s spell, our inner rhythm takes over and we begin to sense who we truly are and how great our potential is.”
