Just in time before Yaam is moving on to the new location, Supersonic and Sentinel will keep the annual anniversary festivities one more time. This year’s edition is the 15th staging of this much anticipated event that sound system enthusiasts look forward to every year. In 2014 it is all about a “Family Reunion”. Expect the unexpected and get ready for a massive line-up including a vast amount of high prolific sounds that paved the way for reggae, dancehall and soca not only in Berlin.
Sentinel, the everlasting sound and World Clash winner 2005 from Benztown needs no introduction. They played all over the world, buried plenty of sounds alive and pleased crowds on all major festivals. Sentinel is a household name for years, a serious force to be reckoned with and owns a strong array of dubs that can put any sound to rest.
Soundquake, with Bimma, Zuke and Hille are longtime friends, former clash rivals and most important set the speed for the availability of vinyl 45’s in Germany. Having a date with Quake is always a musical joy, even if you lose a clash against them. Their distribution still carries the swing and Soundquake is one of the very few places worldwide that survived the invasion of mp3s.
Kingstone, the Cologne Vibes Machine with longtime friends Rodney and Lazy Youth played numerous dates with us all over Germany. Hanging out or playing with them is pure vibes and they know how to take care of their fans.
City Lock a.k.a Berlins Most Wanted are well known for their excellent dubplate service and numerous juggling events. They are also part of the Superlock project that organises big events like the Caribbean Invasion and War Ina East Soundclash in Berlin.
Such-A-Sound, a legend in Berlin that started as a record shop where Panza bought Hip Hop and Reggae vinyls. Owned by Alex and Stefan the legendary sound had a distinctive style and played legendary events at Kurvenstar, WMF, Silverwings and Café Moskau. Let’s see if they are still your mom’s favourite sound!
Concrete Jungle with Barney Millah, Panther and Lazer used to run things in Berlin, playing tons of juggling events at Icon, Insel der Jugend and of course all over Germany. They were among the few trendsetters in Germany representing jamaican soundsystem culture . For one night only, Barney will steer the machine, hopefully digging for some D. Brown dubs and taking us on a joyful trip down memory lane.
Rotzlöffel HiFi, the sound was based in Leipzig and they were the first ones booking Supersonic outside of Berlin.Later Ronny Trettmann and Gringo started the Heckert Empire and wrote German Dancehall History.
