Love not Money Records has been our only regular monthly event for about 2 years until the start of this year when Luke Pompey embarked on a 3 month tour of the US invading Universities across America.
We've missed him a lot so thought we'd celebrate his return in style with Rinse FM resident Doorly. A local lad who's turned into a global success. With recent releases on the likes of Green Velvet's Cajual, Toolroom and Southern Fried. His new stamp on the house scene has blown up and even seen him dipping his toes into disco warming up for the likes of Chic in Ibiza.
You can win free drinks all night at this event, click here for more details:- http://tinyurl.com/ojvxp8h

“It’s amazing, I love it,” says Doorly of his monthly show on Rinse FM. “I didn’t realise I wanted to do radio until I was asked to host a guest show, it’s something I’ve not really considered before, but it’s just wicked, I love it. It’s just really nice to have that outlet. You can talk about the tracks you play, and give people more information.”
Doorly’s work in music crosses platforms: he’s been DJing in clubs for over 10 years, is a veteran promoter, runs a label (Pigeonhole This), and writes and produces music. The ethos, he explains, is to blur the lines between genres, and to give equal airing to every form of music that interests him. That’s most audible in his DJ sets and Rinse shows, where literally any form of dance music imaginable is liable to make an appearance at some point – albeit mixed with enough skill to prevent the transitions feeling jarring.
“I get bored quite easily,” he explains, “so I always play everything in my sets, and the same on my show. I think the show is like my sets but it’s a bit deeper, because it’s stuff that I wouldn’t be able to play in a club.” So the radio format allows a little more space than a club to be adventurous – abruptly killing the energy before building it up from scratch again, for example, or switching rapidly between genres.
Being involved with Rinse is, he says, hugely exciting, in that he’s part of a community that’s constantly uncovering new sounds. “If you want to know what’s happening in a certain sound that Rinse seems to represent, you can find out what they’re playing, it’s so good to stay ahead.”
