Maria Mulambo will take you all the way to one of Brazil's most culturally rich areas – the Nordeste (or North East) - where an exciting folkloric dancing rhythm called Forró was born! It's an earthy, organic, melodic sound featuring vocals, accordion and sizzling Brazilian percussion with a similar rhythmic pulse to reggae. The dance element of forró encompasses expressive movements 'dangerously close together', that's now popular all over Brazil!
Maria Mulambo features: Juliana Tenucci – voice, Jorge Albuquerque Bass, Eduardo R Gomes – Acoordion, Newton Peres – Percussion, Antonio Moreira – percussion, Asha Henfry- Flute, Corey King - 7 Strings sharing their sounds and culture from their homeland!
We are proudly support by Ozforro with a demonstration of Forro Class for 30min before hand, please make sure you arrive on time to reserve your spot at dance floor.
Alongside Dj Paprika (Cutucada/Sabrosa Bris) making the trip down from tropical Brisbane to mix up a selection of dancefloor Nordeste sounds - forró, baião, xaxado, embolada, samba de côco, samba de côco and brazilian beats! Paprika has a strong history with Brazilian music. He's supported some of Brazil's biggest name's in contemporary urban music Dj Marky, Marcelo D2, Sistema Criolina, Negra Li and has played alongside Theivery Corporation, Quantic, Norman Jay, Mo'Horizons, Gotan Project, Sharon Jones & The Dapkings.
