Biters is a new partnership between artists David Blandy and Larry Achiampong. Building on solo projects that explore both artists’ interests in popular culture and the post-colonial position, Biters presents new collages that combine lyrics and sounds that draw from each artist’s identity and musical heritage, while posing the question, what does Authenticity mean in the information age?
In an evening of sampled samples, regurgitated rhymes and deconstructed soul, David Blandy and Larry Achiampong will (re)perform live.
The event will open with a short, 'Old-school' hip hop DJ set by Ryan Riddington, followed by the Biters performance. The event will then conclude with a short, 'New-school' hip hop DJ set by Rachel Noble.
David Blandy and Larry Achiampong share a quest for truth and authentic experience via the cultures that have influenced them, investigating how our identities are shaped by everyday art forms, such as television and music.
