We will be handing in our petition to downing street to get betting shops out of our high streets and town centers.
The Gambling act 2005 was created by MP's with links to the gambling industry. Since 2007 when the act came into place , we our seeing gambling promoted everywhere. On our streets , in our shops, even in our home on the internet and television.
Everywhere we go it's 'WIN WIN WIN' , chronic gambling addiction is poisoning our communities with the officially released government statistics only showing a minimal portion of the true statistics of problem gambling.
Even before the act came into place people knew that betting shops were poisonous , but since the act and the introduction of fixed odds betting terminals you can play a wide range of games very appealing to the younger eye and lose hundreds of pounds in less than ten minutes.
Even the advertising is now appealing to children, if you haven't seen it then keep your eyes out the next time you walk down your local high street.
So far on our research we have gathered over 200 stories of convicted people involved in frauds, thefts and robberies because they had a gambling addiction, this research paper isn't yet finished.
At least £60million was stolen from strangers, family members , friends, employers and charity trusts.
A lot of people are getting affected by problem gambling either directly or indirectly.
All in all betting shops are creating mental illness on-mass as-well as higher rates of depression, crime , poverty and illness. Its time to get these poisonous places out of our high streets where they aren't always right in the face of gambling addicts and where the community is at less risk from harm.
