"PJ Bond has the unique ability to make even the darkest, most inwardly critical subject matter sound hopeful and sweet. There's something truly addictive about wrapping affliction and turmoil inside warm, comforting melodies. The fact is that underneath all Bond's uncertainty, there's a unflinching foundation of optimism. Ultimately, it's what keeps him grounded in reality while continuing to do what he does best, which is to write and perform amazingly heartfelt songs." - Beartrap PR
Having trodden the boards in a handful of bands (Outsmarting Simon, The Color Fred, Communipaw), New Jersey-based PJ Bond now steps up to the microphone solo, with his heart stitched firmly to his sleeve. Echoing the sensitivity and twinkling notions of Elliott Smith, along with the softness and charming strummings of Rocky Votolato, not to mention the upbeat alt-country nuances of My Morning Jacket, Bond’s delivery is a little captivating. Frightfully endearing, he combines compelling storytelling sensibilities, with sobering reflections, underpinned by lush melodies and more than a hint of melancholy. — RockSound 8/10
This song popped into my inbox two months ago, and I have been playing it on and off for weeks as the mood strikes. It’s a fantastic track from the fantastic and unfortunately ‘under-radared’ songwriter PJ Bond. Whether it will be officially released is yet to be seen, but it is as of now slated for a potential “TBD 2012″ vinyl release from Black Numbers. Past releases include and a 2009 LP entitled You Didn’t Know I Was Alphabetical and last year’s April 22: Vienna, Austria. He just finished a nearly two month European tour and will now gear up for some spring 2012 releases. — Come Pick Me Up Zine
