www.facebook.com/SevenLions // Santa Barbara, CA
Seven Lions is quickly taking the dance world hostage with his deep, soulful, hybridized creations – at times elegant, at others pulverizing – all distinctly his own. Seven Lions’ Polarize EP, one of the most promising releases of the last year in the EDM world, just dropped in April and has already garnered praise for its melding of main room bombast with a very sensitive, human touch. For Seven Lions (neé Jeff Montalvo) ‘fast’ is an understatement for how his work has spread virally amongst fans of trance, dubstep, and everything in between. The 25 year old California native has been the center of attention as of late but has maintained a humility throughout. The artist released an unofficial remix of Florence and the Machine’s “Cosmic Love” in March and has been a runaway YouTube hit as Florence’s vocals align perfectly with the producer’s yearning, sinewy compositions. Following the release of the Polarize EP (which charted in the top 5 overall charts on BeatPort), several of his productions are at any given time on the BeatPort dubstep Top 30.
His international following has grown exponentially over the past few months -everything from getting airplay on BBC’s Radio1 to headlining seminal clubs in the States and elsewhere, but this is no overnight success story. It started early on in his life when, at age 7, his father brought home the family’s first computer: a Macintosh and keyboard. After playing in metal and punk bands throughout middle school and high school, Montalvo segued into production in his late teens. “For me, it was the most accessible thing, to start picking up something like drums as opposed to something like electronic music. My transition out of playing with a band was because I got tired of waiting for my band all the time — I wanted to just start making music so I started composing electronic music by myself,” Montalvo explains. After a friend gave Montalvo the program Fruity Loops, he began experimenting with industrial drum beats and toying with genre cross-pollinations. Montalvo attended his first rave in 2007 and was immediately inspired to produce trance. However, he slowly found that broken beat came more naturally to the drummer-at-heart. “It’s more like playing a real instrument, as opposed to doing the four-on-the-floor disco beat. It’s more natural for me,” he says. Not long after, his remix of Above & Beyond feat. Zoe Johnston’s “You Got To Go” served as his breakout hit and introduction to the EDM world. “I won the official remix competition, which is how I got involved with [Above & Beyond]. I don’t know if they were expecting the track to do as well as it did. But it definitely got their attention, and now they’re wanting to work with me more.” That the remix “did well” is an understatement — typical of the soft-spoken Montalvo. The meteoric track sat at #2 on Beatport’s Dubstep chart for over 6 weeks, second only to Skrillex’s remix of “Levels”, with hundreds of thousands of listens on YouTube. From metal band member, to solo industrial producer, to a trance-dub trailblazer — he’s already achieved quite a diverse oeuvre, but his work seems to be only beginning. An innovative, fresh-thinking producer, Seven Lions is one of the more beautiful but dance-centered artists you’re likely to discover for a while.

www.facebook.com/FuntCaseUK // United Kingdom
FuntCase (aka James Hazell) has been in the dubstep scene for a hot minute but already making a very solid impact on the scene, with a medley of ranged beats capable to kick the wig off of any head! Since starting his dubstep creations back in July 09, FuntCase has thrown some of the most filthy, and most catchy tunes out there, causing his popularity to rise massively in such a short amount of time. In the 6 years of his production career, previously creating Drum and Bass, he had numerous releases under the name 'DJ Dose' but never did he realize the opportunity of the dubstep scene, when he made his first tracks 'gorilla flex' and 'make our day' as a joke and for mates, who constantly suggested he try and make the style. Now a new addition to the Circus Records crew it seems his hard work has paid off, visiting numerous nights around the UK and the world in such areas as France, Belgium and Romania, with talks of tours further out from the UK being planned. Of courseeeeee, no-one rises this fast without the help of the big heads within the scene and FuntCase is supported by some of the biggest, With the likes of N-Type, Hatcha, Pendulum, Chase and Status, Rusko, Crissy Criss, Mista Jam, Trolley Snatcha, Datsik, Excision and more, the future looks very bright for this new and exciting talent.

www.facebook.com/keysnkrates // Toronto
Keys N Krates formed as the brainchild of drummer Adam Tune, synth/keyboard aficionado David Matisse and internationally award-winning turntablist Jr. Flo. The Toronto trio came together in 2008 with the desire to bring their blend of live electronic instrumentation to the stage. They've often been referred to as the worlds only "trap band," a title they reluctantly accept. Tune says it best: "At the end of the day, people are going to call us whatever they want. We are referencing everything from classic house music to Timbaland in our beats, but I think the trap references tap into what the current sound is, and we are okay with that." Having toured their unique blend of hip hop and bass music extensively across North America, Keys N Krates put out a slew of original music in 2013. Their most recent body of work, titled SOLOW EP, was released via Steve Aoki's Dim Mak Records in September 2013. The EP features KNK's banger "Treat Me Right," which launched with the support of figureheads like Diplo, Major Lazer, Flosstradamus, and TNGHT. It went to number one on Hype Machine, continues to chart on the Beatport Hip Hop Chart, and remains a fixture in DJ sets and car stereos across the globe. Premiered by Annie Mac on BBC Radio1, their second single off SOLOW EP, "Dum Dee Dum," experienced a similar kind of success on the charts and has solidified the trio as creators of anthemic party music with a quickly growing fan base. KNK has since explored their love for rap music by creating a remix of "Dum Dee Dum." Featuring G.O.O.D. Music's Cyhi The Prynce, King Louie, and Tree, the track has received glowing reviews from the likes of Fader Magazine, Vice Mag, and NahRight. "We had so much fun doing that rap remix," says Flo. "We can't wait to work with more rappers and vocalists in general." Perhaps what truly separates Keys N Krates from the mass of Electronic and Hip Hop producers out there is the unique show they create by performing their bassy beats as a band, completely live. When you go to a KNK show, you will see their music and the music of others morphed and turned on it's head using only drums, keys, turntables and live sampling. This unique style creates not only a crazy dance party, but an experience and vibe like no other. As a result, KNK have found themselves playing some of the world's largest Festivals, including Lollapalooza, Electric Zoo, Ultra Music Festival, Osheaga, and Sonar Festival (to name a few.) As Matisse says, "Our favorite thing is playing live and bringing people into our world."

www.facebook.com/Xilent // United Kingdom
As rises to prominence go, Xilent's has been meteoric in the extreme. At just under two years since his debut Dubstep release 'Choose Me II' marked the arrival of a serious new talent, Xilent has quickly become one of the most talked about names in bass culture. With such a short period between being a relative unknown to being one of the world's most talked about electronic producers, it's easy to forget that it was only back in 2011 when 'Choose Me II' was picked up by Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1 making Xilent his 'Next Hype' artist with the track going on to top the Beatport Dubstep chart (remaining in the top five for over three months) and being made a finalist in the Beatport Music Award's "Top Dubstep Track of the Year 2011" alongside Skrillex, Feed Me, Porter Robinson and Nero. 'Choose Me II' has now had over 3 million plays on YouTube and will forever be remembered as the track that brought Xilent to the world's attention and the start of his world spanning bass odyssey. With such a landmark release, a follow up was always going to difficult, however with his 2012 releases 'Touch Sound EP' and 'Ultrafunk EP'creating waves of new fans across dance floors, online and radio alike, Xilent not only matched, but surpassed the success of 'Choose Me II' with Zane Lowe making 'Beyond' his 'Hottest Record In The World' and 'Do It' receiving Xilent's first Radio 1 daytime spins from Fearne Cotton. With the success of his multi-genre spanning releases, Xilent has also become a much in demand remixer with everyone from Katy Perry (who personally signed off on his mix), Ellie Goulding and Ed Sheeran to Sub Focus, Hadouken! and Excision queuing up to get his take on their latest releases. His original tracks and remixes also continue to be featured heavily in the sets of the worlds biggest DJ's with artists such as Skrillex, Knife Party and Flux Pavilion all being long term supporters. 2014 is set to be even more exciting for Xilent. With DJ bookings now taking him around the world and rumours of a late 2014 album in offing, it is no wonder many are tipping him for true greatness in the coming months. To kick off the year, Xilent once again threw in another curveball with the release of the much sought after 'Boss Wave', once again expanding on his signature sounds with a raft of new influences, which once again shows an artist and talent at the top of his game. Able to produce on his laptop, Xilent has been able to maintain a truly global DJ schedule alongside his remix and production work, with his multi genre sets and boundless enthusiasm in hyping any crowd taking him everywhere from the launch of UKF Presents in NYC, Metro City in Perth, Australia and Womb in Japan to Dubstep Planet @ Arena in Moscow. With his tracks having had over fourteen million plays (and counting) on YouTube, and support from key tastemakers such as Annie Mac, Friction, Mistajam, Eddy Temple Morris, Crissy Criss, Andi Durrant and UKF (who have posted six of Xilent's tracks in little over two years) the future could not possibly be brighter for Xilent who is part of a new wave of bass culture producers taking the sounds to new levels and pushing genres out of their clichd ruts and into new bursts of creativity and vision. Roll on 2013 and beyond. The future's bright, the future's Xilent

K5 was formed in 1995, after Kevin “DJKJ” Shiver was looking for a new name to fit his newest creation, “Passion.” He took the K from KJ and 5 from his previous group Project 5, who had a couple of club hits with, “The New Style”, “The Rhythm Is Hot”, and “Blazing Pianos.” “K5” is also the classification for the ‘brightest stars’ in astronomy. KJ wrote and recorded “Passion” with sweet sounding vocals of Tammy Wright. It was first put out on Orlando’s KRAM Records. It sold about 8,000 copies on vinyl, it garnered a lot of mix-show play and some mainstream radio play. It received such a response, that a bidding war for the single and subsequent album then followed. After offers from several labels, K5 was signed to Robbins Entertainment/BMG for the U.S. and ISBA Records for Canada, Formaldehyde/Mercury Records and universal records Germany. The single for “Passion” went on to sell more than 1,000,000 copies worldwide. It also made it on to Billboard Magazine’s Hot 100 at # 98 and #24 on Maxi-single sales Top 50. Passion & Red Alert also appeared on Miramax Films chasing Amy . After recording “Passion”, Tammy left the group to pursue solo efforts. KJ then brought in new vocalist, Tessa Calina, who sang many of the songs on K5’s debut album, “K5.” The second single, “Lift You Up” received lots of mix-show and club play throughout the country. K5 was named Dixie Dance Kings “Dance Artist Of The Year” for 1996/97, beating out other nominees including Spice Girls, Gina G., Backstreet Boys, and Puff Daddy. At the beginning of 1998, Tessa left the group to pursue a solo career as well. KJ then started to work on the new single Lovin Feelin with vocalist Tia Lisanne and keyboardist Mickey Mix Bono and Mark Hibbard. followed by Mysterious World.
