Seven days to remember: 7 to April 12, 2014 Spoleto will host the expectation International Dance Week, the most important industry event held in Italy. The highlight will be the twenty-fourth edition of the prestigious International Competition, a sort of Oscar's "sixth art" for the best young dancers in the world.
And 'the only Italian event, among the many events that take place every year in the beautiful country, accepted in the International Ballet Competition Federation, the world federation that combines the most important dance events.
Spoleto, such as Moscow, Varna, Perm, Berlin, Istanbul becomes one of the capitals of the world of dance.
There are 140 young dancers of the professional schools, from every corner of the globe, enrolled in four sections of the competition: "Classical", "Pas de deux", "Modern and Contemporary" and "Choreographic composition". Accompanying teachers, friends and family. This year the event returns to its historic headquarters of the Cloister of St. Nicholas who for seven days will be transformed into a colorful pool of talent.
But it's all coming back to the city a cosmopolitan atmosphere to breathe between exhibitions, performances, film festivals and conferences that flock to the varied program of the 2014 edition, which was officially presented at a press conference convened at the headquarters of the Foundation Cassa di Risparmio di Spoleto, the organization that sponsors and supports the event together with the Ministry of Education, the City of Spoleto and the Foundation Antonini.
The value of the project for the area has been highlighted by the President of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio Sergio Zinni, who spoke of the young dancers emerging as future ambassadors of Spoleto in the world. The Director General Paolo Boncompagni, President Alberto Testa and artistic director Irina Kashkova, stressed the increasingly close link between the city and the event, which continues to grow: only increase from 2013, enrollment increased by 55 %.

On April 10, the Hip Hop dancers of the company "Street Style" by Paolo Aloise will perform in the home district in a show dedicated to the prisoners. And the young inmates in prison who attend the Art Institute, will have the opportunity to exhibit their work in the courtyard of the cloister of St. Nicholas: "No space, no time" is the title of the exhibition, open from 8 to 12 April. Tuesday, 8 Cloister of Saint John will host at 12 am also a film preview of exception: the dance-movie "The Passion" by Andrea Forte Calatti. A medium-length film that follows, in the touching vision of the director, the last hours of Christ. The cast is all La Scala and the role of Christ is interpreted by the first dancer Antonino Sutera.
The International Week of Dance will be officially opened April 4 from a show inspired by the book "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Under the direction of Arturo Cannistrà and direction of Anna Marletta, students will dance Dance Events Association Terni.

The edition of 2014 is dedicated to the great choreographer Aurelio Milloss of Hungarian origin, founder of the Italian modern ballet. Albert will remember the 25th anniversary of the death, on April 9 in the conference room of the Cloister of St. Nicholas.
At the same venue, by Spoleto books, four books will be presented with the "sixth art" as the protagonist: "Pointes on Music" by Mariella Ermini; "On the Dance. Memories, reflections - How to read a Ballet "by Albert; "Dance Lessons" by Flavia Pappacena and "Elizabeth Terabust: the worry of perfection" by Emanuele Burrafato.
Afterwards, Peter Migliaccio, nutritionist, dietician, president of the Italian Society of Food Science, will give a lecture "The principles of proper nutrition between scientific reality and myths."
The best young talents in the dance world will be consecrated on the evening of 12 April, at the end of the Grand Gala, during which the finalists will perform in front of an international audience.
Among the prizes will be awarded money prizes, scholarships, internships and training courses in the best theaters in the world.
The Competition jury, chaired by Alberto Testa, is formed by some of the biggest names in the dance world: Francis Gizzi, internationally renowned choreographer; Vyacheslav Gordeev, artistic director of the Ballet Company of the Russian State Ballet of Moscow; Jan Broeckx, director of the Academy of Dance in Monaco of Bavaria; Sanja Maier of the Rotterdam Dance Academy and Paul Aloise, a choreographer and a leading exponent of Italian hip-hop.
A special jury of journalists instead assign the expected Critics Award, reserved for the most talented young dancer. The award, one of a kind, was born in 2012 at the behest of Paul and Sara Boncompagni Zuccari. Today it is the most prestigious award in the Italian dance competitions. Sara Zuccari, director of the Journal of Dance, the first online newspaper in Italy dedicated to the world of dance and ballet is the president of the jury. For the occasion, will be joined by Emilio Carelli, historian and director of SkyTg24 by Antonella Manni, a journalist for Il Messaggero.
