Bugbear @ Proud- Excellent Bands Only

Proud Camden The Horse Hospital, The Stables Market, Chalk Farm Road, Camden Town, London NW1, UK

Petite Mort- Ah oui, orgasmic tendencies in Le Rock et Le Roll. Such a nice juxtaposition of Beach Boys harmonies and Kings Of Leon meets QOTSA rock out guitars...a jaunty sound with low slung rocknroll purpose and catchy hooks all over..bit of Strokes, bit of Weezer, nice. Did I say nice? Fucking nice.
The Actions- with a crisp pop feel thru airy female vocals- puts me in mind of The Photos or Martha and The Muffins- a bit new wave-ish...see also Garbage what with the hifi techy edge... and a smidge of No Doubt. A touch of Vampire Weekend style indie pop dynamics but via a broader palette encompassing arty dance music elements and Floyd-ish symphonics cum loftiness. Tremendous songs, swish feel, good ideas, man there's stuff going on here. Don't just trust Buggerbear, them good people at The Sound Of Confusion say of The Actions' new 'Indefensible' EP 'This is one lab experiment where everything's gone according to plan' and OceanicBlue are as bold as to call The Actions 'Alt/Modern Rock Superstars'...coz they are...and the cover's lovely too as you can see above...
Alex Butler and the Opals- Last single 'Stole Her Away' was Number 18 in Mojo Magazine chart, was picked as Nick Grimshaw's up and coming act and played on his show...
marvellously mannered indie pop with a bit of an Elvis Costello vibe vocally though musically more post Radiohead meets Metronomy or something else tres smart, urbane and hipsterly. They look damn good in that modern preppy manner and their songs are very, very good for sure.
5 Goal Thriller- rocking some classic '80s indie moves you can detect a hint of Orange Juice in the 5GT simply thrilling concoction , or perchance Lloyd Cole via something altogether more rocking and blues based. Masterful music.
