Jungle Boogie is back with a special king’s night edition! And we invited two hot artists to rock your soul. All the way from Australia, the dutch debut of the talented Andras Fox, and the enigmatic, James Pants from the US. They will hit the decks at BAR, april 25th for an episode of Jungle Boogie you won’t forget!
Melbourne-based producer, DJ and 2010 Red Bull Music Academy participant Andras Fox has always been a connoisseur of the truly odd. He's always raiding dusty vinyl bins throughout the globe and coming up with some immensely peculiar and soulful finds.
Like any good collector, he sorts his music by theme - whether it be quiet storm, cave-rock, acid-beard or, jungle boogie! This truly talented young fellow has made himself known throughout the world with his brilliant Embassy Cafe mini-lp.
We are very proud to have this boy wonder over for his first time in the Netherlands!
The son of two Presbyterian ministers from an American backwater called Spokane,
James Pants went from being the teenage DJ for a black nationalist rap group to a multi-instrumentalist who can count on fans as diverse as Flying Lotus, Zane Lowe, Erol Alkan and XL’s new teen hip-hop internet sensation Tyler The Creator, who calls James “one of the most creative fucking people to walk this earth”.
James met Stones Throw Records head honcho Peanut Butter Wolf after his high school prom and dropped a debut album in 2008, Welcome, which told the tale of a lone music obsessive who synthesized a staggeringly broad record collection into a coherent LP in a style he dubbed “fresh beat”, taking in ’80s boogie, synth experiments, garage rock and much more.
Since then James has toured the globe, released Seven Seals (a tribute to his beloved ’70s cult and New Age records), a self-titled third album, and uprooted from Colorado to Cologne, where he works as a studio engineer.
Supported by Triphouse Rotterdam members and Jungle Boogie initiators Khalil and Paladium.
Who will be playing the best modern soul, neo boogie, disco, funk, house, italo and all that funky stuff that make up the groove that is Jungle Boogie.
