The Cuban Swimmer by Milcha Sanchez-Scott is a short play about a Cuban family who enters a young girl as an amateur in a professional swimming competition. The young swimmer Margarita struggles to fulfill both the expectations of her father and the expectations of the American media.
Bondage by David Henry Hwang (M. Butterfly) is a play set in an S&M parlor in California addressing racial stereotyping as a form of bondage. In this play the dominatrix assigns different racial roles as a way to exploit weakness in the man who has paid to be dominated.
