Did you know?
Approximately 90 percent of Nepal’s 22 million people live in the rural plains and mountain areas, primarily as subsistence farmers. Forty-five percent of Nepal’s population lives below the poverty line, with one child in every 10 dying before the age of 5.
This November I plan to volunteer on a Habitat for Humanity Global Village home building mega-project in Nepal. Hundreds of international volunteers will work alongside Habitat home partners to construct at least 100 houses in 1 week (!!!)
We will build five different models in the village of Jaymangala in the Chitwan district. House sizes will vary accordingly to family size; allocating 3.5 square meters (sq. m.) or 37.5 square feet (sq. ft.) per person, and each house will have two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a toilet.
Please join me at Sapphire Lounge (@ Houston and Eldridge in LES) on April 25th and have a few drinks with me in the name of this cause and help me reach my goal of $3k to secure my place on the team.
There will be a $5 cover and additional donations are welcome and appreciated! All of the proceeds will go toward providing a Nepalese family with a decent place to live.
