BALKAN BEAT TRIESTE
Born in Trieste, and created by Stefano Grazio, a.k.a.Dj Stoner, who organized the first Balkan Beat Trieste event (with guest DJ Gaetano Fabri from Belgium) in January 2009 at Etnoblog, a landmark site in Trieste. The event was a great success, with long lines of fans waiting to get in and dance to the new Eastern European sound. A new sound originating from the past: traditional folk music revisited, an ancestral music that goes straight to your gut and touches your heart.
(Dj Stoner & Balkan Beat Trieste have since become well known in the Balkan music scene, spinning during the concerts of the best-known brass bands (Goran Bregović & The Wedding And Funeral Band, Shantel, Boban & Marko Markovic Orchestra, Emir Kusturica & The No Smoking Orchestra), promoting the most exciting new bands (Radio Zastava, Giufa, Gattamolesta, Eusebio Martinelli & The Gipsy Abarth Orchestra, Nema Problema Orkestar), welcoming the top DJs in this genre as guests (Gaetano Fabri, Dj Click, Dunkelbunt, Kosta Kostov, Shantel), and being featured at festivals such as Guča sul Carso, SiRom and Mirabilia.) The US launch of Balkan Beat Trieste is the result of the successful partnership between Dj Stoner and Dj Ricky Russo (from Trieste, now based in NYC).
Born in Trieste in 1973, Ricky now lives in Brooklyn. He is a Freelance rocker, DJ, music journalist, tourist guide, writer, dreamer, speaker, and host of radio and TV programs. Ricky has a degree in Modern Literature and wrote his thesis on the origin of the Punk Movie. Ricky collaborates with ICN Radio New York, Radio/TV Capodistria, Radio Ara Luxembourg, Radio Contrabanda Barcellona, Trieste newspaper ‘Il Piccolo’ and New York newspaper ‘America Oggi’, as well as Benetton’s monthly magazine ‘Playlife’, ‘Rumore’ Magazine and ‘Ulisse’ (Alitalia’s magazine). "Per Bon, For Real" is his latest book (NativiEditore).

Very close to the Flatiron Building, Osteria del Principe is the flagship store and first restaurant opened in the US by Principe di San Daniele spa, the world class prosciutto manufacturer. The Company has been making artisanal Italian charcuterie such as Prosciutto di San Daniele for over 60 years and wanted to bring its prosciutto directly to New Yorkers in a traditional eatery, commonly known in Italy as ‘Osteria’. A village osteria is often the social center for Italians. A welcoming and simple restaurant characterized by a large counter, with reasonably priced local specialties and great wines. A place to meet friends and enjoy a plate of pasta or simply have a glass of wine over some cured meet. At Osteria del Principe, prosciutto rules the roost, but there are also many other special dishes coming from the cooking tradition of Friuli Venezia Giulia region, such as the roasted ham wrapped in bread dough, Frico (a dish made with cheese, potatoes and butter) and Jota (a soup that in the traditional Trieste recipe is made with sauerkrauts).
