The sold out KID CONGO POWERS gigs at Dirty Water last year were among the highlights of the year... If you weren't there, ask anyone that was. He's back in London on Thursday 29 May at the Rhythm Factory.
Best known for his contribution to The Gun Club, The Cramps, and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Kid’s spent the last fifteen years as a sideman (Make-Up, Mark Eitzel, Angels of Light, etc.), as a partner in Congo Norvell and Kid and Khan, a member of garage rock supergroup Knoxville Girls, and, most recently, the leader of Kid Congo Powers and the Pink Monkey Birds.
During the last five years however, Kid has emerged as a world-class songwriter and a distinctive vocalist.
You all know MFC CHICKEN by now, surely? One great album on Dirty Water Records and another even greater one coming soon. Oh, yes. Wait till you hear it!
BONE is a gang of one, the sole survivor of [D-66] whose other members died in the sonic jihad in the desert sands of North Africa. And by lord, He returned evil. But don't blame him solely for perverting what is good and holy, with his obscene thumping and crashing beats, his debauched rock'n'rRoll guitar and obsessive and insane howling. No, brethren, It is the Gun Clubs, Bad Seeds, Cramps, yes, people like Kid Congo himself (and Lemmy) that perverted this poor man's feeble mind into the abomination he calls BONE. Be there.
