The Triangle Project 11 - New York

TBA Brooklyn 395 Wythe Avenue, New York, NY, USA

The Triangle created between Copenhagen, Istanbul and New York has given the name to The Triangle Project. A collaborative Art, Music, Activist and Cultural Exchange project bringing people together across new boarders and states of mind.

The event at TBA Brooklyn will in the early evening have focus on the current situation in Turkey following the Gezi Resistance Movement in Istanbul. Film screenings* will be held with a follow-up panel debate with Turkish New York based artists, writers, journalists and activists. The panel debate will be hosted by Ahmet Bugdayci who is an editor and colommist of weekly Turkish paper Posta212 based in New York.

Gezi was fed by tear gas and transformed it to an inspiration of an awakening. Now it’s time for digesting. Let's get rid of our "gas" a.k.a ego and let's release. Take me as who I am I and digest me! A magic herbal tea can help with cinnamon, cardamon, thyme, mint, lavender, rose, cumin and cloves.

Live music by the New York acoustic trio The Falconers.

Starting out the Night is the Danish sound artist Jacob Kirkegaard, who recentlywas in the first Sound Art Exhibition at MoMA, with one of his amazing sets.

The next live act is the up an coming Danish solo act FRANKA, who sings, plays various instruments, sequencers, pedals and samplers creating a powerful soundscape of pleasure and pain.

Bringing the crowd onto the dancefloor is DJ Taylan with a line-up of other Istanbul DJ legends. They will play a variety of house, techno, Turkish funk and beats that will be sure to light your fire.

*Film Screening of the documentary film “Year of Dreaming Dangerously – Change in Turkey” by Tom Frey and the short Kickstarter.com film from the Istanbul based photographer Charles Emir Richard that helped fund his book called “Barikat”. A wonderful, just off the press, photography book about what happened in Istanbul in the spring of 2013. Also screening of Brendon Stuart's "99%" film and Claus Ankersen's "TOXIC TUESDAYS"
