Attractive Camp is a comedy riffing pizza party with some of the most talented stand-up comics, sketch writers, and short filmmakers in the game. This month's performers and contributors include writers from FX's Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell, comedians from Conan, Splitsider, San Francisco SketchFest, and more. Guest comics are sourced from the Bay and L.A.'s finest and are determined by ability to talk smack with an exceptional headliner and/or likelihood to put out.
April's show is STACKED (full bios at end):
Johan Miranda. (Bridgetown Comedy Festival, SF Sketchfest)
David Nguyen. (Punchline)
Matthew Louv. (Punchline, Mission Position)

Hosted by Nicole Calasich
With VERY Special Guest: FREE PIZZA
NATO GREEN (our hot seat headliner for the evening) - Nato Green was summed up more or less accurately by The East Bay Express as, “erudite and acerbic, a San Francisco-raised father, union organizer, gastronome, bibliophile, and political sparkplug.” He performs on Wednesdays at the legendary alternative comedy show at the Dark Room Theatre, The Business. His podcast The Nato Sessions is produced by 3200 Stories. His first comedy album, The Nato Green Party, was released by Rooftop Comedy. Nato has been named San Francisco's Best Comedian by the SF Weekly, Huffington Post, and CBS.
Nato is the creator of Iron Comic, the Iron Chef-spoofing comedy game show he co-hosts with Moshe Kasher. Nato's humor commentaries have appeared in Huffington Post, the San Francisco Bay Guardian, The Rumpus, and The Bold Italic. Nato wrote for Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell on FX and toured nationally with W. Kamau Bell & Janine Brito as Laughter Against the Machine. Laughter Against the Machine filmed a tour documentary from the front lines of American controversy.
“Righteous and hilarious, Nato is like finding a shot of bourbon at your co-worker's stupid vegan potluck.”
--Daniel Handler, aka Lemony Snicket
JOHAN MIRANDA (our Peruvian eyecandy [and consequent mortal enemy of Bolivian American host Nicole Calasich] for the evening) - Johan Miranda is a Peruvian American comedian that has established himself in the Bay Area comedy scene. San Francisco Magazine exemplified him as a comedian you should know you about. He performs at all the major comedy clubs in Northern California, including San Francisco Punchline, Sacramento Punchline, Cobbs Comedy Club, Rooster T Feathers, & San Jose Improv. Johan is also featured at the 2014 SF Sketchfest & 2014 Bridgetown Comedy Festival. He currently produces & hosts the popular bimonthly Laugh Function, Berkeley’s longest running comedy showcase. He recently recorded a mini comedy DVD taping entitled “Ready to Bomb”, which award winning Bay Area comedy blog Courting Comedy called “a capsule of undeniable promise.”
DAVID NGUYEN (our smug but intriguing future rap sensation for the evening) - David Nguyen is a comedian/writer who started performing stand-up in 2009. Subjecting everything to his quick wit and biting sense of humor is his way of making sense of life. When asked what got him started in comedy, he replied, “arrogance.” Absurd or dark, there is no topic he’ll shy away from. He was recently a finalist in the Battle of the Bay competition in 2012 and Rooster T Feathers New Talent competition in 2011. He writes sketches and produces shows as a member of the comedy troupe, The Colossal. He can be found performing at clubs and colleges all over.
MATT LOUV (our antihero and official KFC street-team rep for the evening) - Matt is a comedian, Juggalo scholar, birdwatcher, wild mushroom gatherer, grizzly bear avoider and extremely eligible bachelor. He has been doing comedy for four years and isn’t famous because he would never compromise his artistic vision with success. He runs a weekly comedy show in San Francisco’s Mission District, called The Mission Position, and is generally considered “one of the funny ones” by his comedian peers. He is slowly dying from mushroom poisoning.
APARNA NANCHERLA (our highly legitimate and legitimately high special guest from the city Jay-Z lives in [NEW YORK, dumdums]) - Aparna Nancherla has an intimidating name, but don’t be scared! She’s a joke entrepreneur who pedals in both writing and performance (AKA scribble-scrabble and jibber-jabber). In fact, she recently wrote for and sometimes appeared on the late, great Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell, on FX-then-FXX.
Her artistic journey took off in Washington D.C. (it’s all about the Washingtons), but she now resides in the biggest apple in the gosh darn world.
Aparna’s comedic goggles are dry and observational, and her act is sprinkled with absurdist wit and a whimsical point-of-view.
Other credits include @midnight, Conan, LA Weekly‘s “12 Comedy Acts to Watch”, Serial Optimist’s “10 Comics You Must Know”, Splitsider’s “10 Up-and-Coming Comedians on Each Coast”, 2013 New Face at the Just for Laughs Montreal Comedy Festival, the WTF Podcast with Marc Maron, the Nerdist Podcast with Chris Hardwick, Last Comic Standing, SXSW, SF Sketchfest, the Bridgetown Comedy Festival, the Great American Comedy Festival, NPR, Laughspin, Funny or Die, Cosmopolitan, Reader’s Digest, The Huffington Post, The Washington Post Magazine, TimeOut NY, and Slate V.
Comics Aparna has opened for include Paul F. Tompkins, Eugene Mirman, Maria Bamford, Kurt Braunohler & Kristen Schaal, Dave Attell, Christian Finnegan, Tom Green, Eddie Brill, Hari Kondabolu, Myq Kaplan, and Chris D’Elia.
Venues and shows she has played include the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, Comedy Bang Bang at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade (LA), Whiplash at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade (NYC), the Hollywood Improv, Gotham Comedy Club, Caroline’s on Broadway, Stand Up NY, the Punchline Comedy Club (SF), the Purple Onion, the DC Improv, the Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse, the Lincoln Lodge (Chicago), and Mottley’s Comedy Club (Boston), as well as a gaggle of colleges.
Aparna is also an experienced improviser, having studied at Washington Improv Theater, the Upright Citizen’s Brigade in both NY and LA, and the Groundlings, as well as at Lesly Kahn’s school of acting. She haphazardly performs with delightful independent improv group Mythical Newsroom. She has also acted in various sketches, web videos and series, pilots, and short films.
P.S. Every time someone reads Aparna Nancherla’s bio, a puppet gets its strings.
PIZZA (our highly edible future rap sensation and mortal enemy of everything wrong with the world) - Pizza has been seen at nearly every club and college in the country and is widely revered by its peers as "What I get paid in," "My dinner and breakfast the next day most of the time" "So good with beer" "Dude there's pizza??!!" and "The reason I keep doing this, man." A comic's comic, pizza leaves all who witness it wanting more. Best known for its savory delivery with occasional sweet undertones, Pizza is the consummate underdog of the comedy game. Like its biggest fans and esteemed predecessors Bamford, O'Neal, Pryor, Pizza's repertoire is famous for bringing together otherwise strange bedfellows. Pizza prefers it/its/they gender pronouns but finds all genders devour its material with pleasure.
