Important Notice: Due to political upheavals, we will be postponing the deadline and other things for this competition. Please stay tuned for details.
The first Siam Sinfonietta composition competition, last year, produced some wonderful pieces by young composers. Many were subsequently performed by the Sinfonietta and two were premiered in Slovakia, Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic by the Sinfonietta.
The judges at the first competition were some of the world's most successful composers and musicians, including Daron Hagen, a top American opera composer, French composer and conductor at the Met Frederic Chaslin, and other celebrities amd experts. Because of this, even contestants that did not win had the opportunity to have their work appraised and commented on and SEEN all around the world.
As in previous years, the judges vote on a modified "Australian ballot" system in which all the finalists, including the "no award" category, are ranked in order of preference by the judges. Each rank receives a diminishing number of points. The number of total points for each work determines the final award ranking.
This is a preliminary announcement, and more details will follow.
