Thailand Steinway Youth Piano Competition 2014

Following the success of the first Steinway Youth Piano Competition in 2012, Thailand has once again been invited to take part in this prestigious piano competition.

The Steinway Festival is an important biennial event organised by Steinway & Sons in Hamburg, Germany. Its purpose is to identify, encourage, and promote young pianists in the formative stages of their careers. In Asia a regional audition, hosted by Steinway Gallery Singapore and involving finalists from 9 nations. The competition is one of the largest events of its kind, offering prizes and an opportunity for its 1st prize winner to appear in concert alongside representatives from several European nations.

The 9 Asian nations taking part in this national competition are: Taiwan, Korea, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Brunei & Singapore. Each country will select one winner who will perform in the Steinway Regional Finals in Singapore.

In Thailand, the Steinway Youth Piano Competition is open to all eligible pianists in Thailand. The competition allows talented young pianists to develop and enhance performing experience as well as to gain exposure to compete at an international level.

There are two categories:

Youth Competition (under 17): Winner will represent Thailand in competition in the Regional Round in Singapore in July.

Concerto Competition (under 24): Winner will get to perform a piano concerto of choice with the Bangkok Charity Orchestra.

FIRST ROUND: 23 April 2014 @ Goethe Institut:
All participants will get to compete in front of the judging panel (no CDs or DVDs required)
FINAL ROUND: 27 April 2014 @ Siam Kempinski (Chadra Ballroom)
3 finalists from each category will be selected to compete in the final round.
