SLOWTORCH are a stoner rock juggernaut that’s set to annihilate anything that stands in its path” (louciferspeaks.com, 2011).
Formed in 2005 from the ashes of previous projects, SLOWTORCH have steadily built themselves an audience through hard work and constant touring. Essentially, SLOWTORCH are blistering mass of driving riffs, pounding drums, throbbing bass lines and roaring vocals all packed into a van and set free in venues large and small all over Europe.
SLOWTORCH do not follow trends. What they value most is their freedom to roll different styles of rock music into a no-frills, no-bullshit blend of 70ies rock, metal and blues. Think Clutch meets Black Sabbath meets Corrosion Of Conformity.
Their releases bear testimony to the band’s refusal to be pigeonholed. Try Adding Fuel To Fire (Blindness Records, 2007), From Radiation They Came (2009) or 4-Barrel Retribution (RIFF Records, 2011).
Whereas the hot summer of 2011 drew nearly everyone to the local beach or bar, snipping colourful cocktails, four dudes spent their leisure time at an old dirty practice room, drinking beer and trying to figure out what the heart of every band is; riffs, riffs and yes, even more riffs. Not restricting themselves to any kind of genre, they shamlessly draw influences from your mum‘s lovely hippie bands of the 70s, to classic desert-driven Stoner-Rock, over to deep doom and fuzzy Sludge Riffs. Sativa Root play instrumental music, covering the full range between heavy discordant parts and soft melodic passages.
We shared the stage with bands like:
Kylesa, Red Fang, Planet of Zeus, Weedeater, Black Tusk, Naam, Underdogs, The Black Rainbows and others
"They pound away at the soft, open wound of modern metal rock/alternative, distending and tearing at its extremes. Why? Because fuck modern metal rock/alternative; that’s why. This is the sound of a post-civilization: an after-shock, eating the remains of what once was. This is what it sounds like when the machine stops running, and we all go back into the cold, desperate nights and vast, empty days. Welcome to an empire of nihilism and honest human decay. Regressive rock, for us post-modern primitives."
The band starts in brand new mood in march 2011 in the Italian stoner/psych music panorama.
The trio (Macej "wildhand" Mikolajczyk; bass/voice, Domenico "mastino" Canino; Guitar/Effects/voice, Vito "vitus" Zito; drum) approaches to a dirty and granitic sound, sometimes clean and amniotic after has been experimenting in different roman undergrounds.
During their lives they have been projecting videos with prevalent object the nature which has been a perfect psychedelic band’s background added to a mantras stoner’s riffs and melodious surroundings notes.
Under the Valle D’Itria’s (south of Italy) burning sun of August 2011, the band locks its self up to give birth to its first low budget self product the EP “Noisy Spirit”, also supported from Cal Scott "Umbah" of the ex “Necrosanct”.
