We celebrate Dali’s birthday all through the month of May with Dali’s film projects.
About Destino: The idea behind the film as described by Disney is "just a simple love story - boy meets girl." The animated short is a love story as only Dali could imagine it, complete with the images as only he could create - melting clocks, tuxedo-clad eyeballs without faces, ballerinas, ants that turn into bicycles, and surprising baseballs.
The documentary, Disney & Dali: A Date with Destino explores the origins of the relationship between Disney and Dali, their collaboration on Destino, and ultimately how the film came to fruition so many years after its inception. Includes interviews with Dali Museum Education Curator, Peter Tush. (Destino: 1945, 2003, 6 min.; G) (Disney & Dali: A Date with Destino: 2010, 82 mins.; Not Rated, probably G).
Cost: Free to all.
