English Theatre Berlin puts its Miete where its mouth is with our annual festival featuring our most important resource – the community of international expatriate artists and the English-language Freie Szene.
The Expo has three components: evening performances, daytime workshops and family-friendly programming as well as the Expat Markt, a weekend-long marketplace cum performance installation featuring the goods and services of international visual artists, business owners and performers.
What are we looking for? That’s ultimately up to you – the Expat Expo is all about our international community of artists! Here are just a few guidelines:
► Daytime program:
2 professional workshops or family-friendly performances daily from Monday through Friday, each approximately three hours in length.
► Evening program: 3
professional performances daily from Monday through Friday, each between 30 and 60 minutes length. These can run the gamut from theater and performance to cabaret, comedy, burlesque, dance, music and everything in between. Shorter works can also be considered. Be sure to let us know where you would like to perform it.
► Expat Markt:
We’re looking for international artists to put their creativity on sale through actual objects sold at tables and booths as well as metaphorical performances. The Markt is also looking for buskers and performers for half-hour slots on the performance stage set up in the foyer. Jugglers, contact improvisers, musicians, clowns, you name it – we’re looking for it!
And if you have any questions, simply send an email to email@example.com
And what about the money?
Workshops during the daytime program will generally cost 35 € per participant. The money collected will be split 50/50 between English Theatre Berlin | International Performing Arts Center and the instructor of the respective workshop.
Admission to a night of performance within the evening program will cost 15 € (10 € reduced). Depending upon box office intake, our goal is to give each group performing during a given evening a fee of 100 €, assuming that evening consists of three different groups. The actual fee paid will be a function of the number of groups in a given evening as well as the box office intake.
A table for one day at the Expat Markt (Saturday or Sunday) costs 10 €. A table for both days costs 15 €. All merchants, artists and performers keep 100 percent of whatever they sell. Visitors to the Markt will be charged a 3 € admission.
We look forward to your applications!
