Floating, flying and falling- a workshop on finding lightness in your yoga practice
with Marcus Veda and Leon London
Saturday 31st May
13:00 - 15:00
We spend a lot of time working on asanas and often get stuck in them... but it's how we get there as much as what we do once we arrive. Transitions are the oil for the cogs of the physical practice and even experienced practitioners sometimes need a bit more lubrication as they float through to seated or jump back to chaturanga. With the Surya Namaskar (sun salutation) as the foundation of any vinyasa practice, this workshop will focus on making the flow a true, seamless connection of breath and movement, working as much on the space between the postures as the postures themselves. Expect to go back to basics with a breakdown of the fundamental asanas of Suryas A & B as well as jump off into the future with more advanced arm-balances and "floating" techniques. We will get into the mechanics of flight using bandhas, breath and strength conditioning. There will also be a lot of falling down. So leave your ego at the door.
If you want your crow to soar, and land and as effortlessly...or find your way from Tittibasana to handstand... or simply to find out once and for all that your arms ARE long enough to lift your bum off the ground.... then come and get light at the Light Centre!
For yogis looking to advance their physical practice and iron out the wrinkles. Some experience recommended. No serious yoga faces allowed.
