ReviveHER Rush Hour Loft Party - XOSAR - Live UK Debut, SAN PROPER + ANTAL

Studio WHO Mother Studios, Queens Yard, White Post Lane, London, UK

Thank you for launching us in such style. We’ve now established planetary atmosphere. Welcome back to Studio WHO and a label from another dimension.

Since ‘97 Rush Hour Records have continued to inspire listeners to genre-warping effect through a combination of far-reaching knowledge, musical open mindedness and unfailing passion. They possess an unmistakable sense of pride founded on singlehandedly bringing vinyl to Amsterdam and rereleasing countless Chicago/Detroit classics before becoming the fully-fledged entity they are now. Rush Hour became the blueprint for everything Dutch in dance, and with ADE ( Amsterdam Dance Event - Official Page ) never more relevant their global sway is evident. An official Rush Hour label party in London will be a rare treat.

They maintain one of the most prolific outputs in the business. This year they deliver albums from Xosar, Hunee and Awanto 3, reissues of Vincent Floyd plus releases from all the usual suspects - San Proper, Tom Trago, Moire, KinK, J Velez as well as two compilations coming from Gerd Janson and Rick Wilhite

Xosar - Live UK Debut

Rush Hour’s latest protégé has taken the world by storm in the last twelve months, fast becoming one of the most in demand names in dance music today.

Forget all previous references to futurism and intergalactic travel; XOSAR has truly mystical blood flowing through her veins. Her process is a ritual manipulation of analogue machinery into a cosmic configuration. Her music channels the haunted songs of sirens; beautifully discordant and unmistakably electronic, tenderly she echoes her affections for Detroit.

In two short years, the new supreme heroine of house has notched up a string of releases. Her debut ‘Tropical Cruize’ on Ron Morelli’s L.I.E.S. followed by two Rush Hour EPs ‘Ghosthaus’ and the recent ‘The Calling’ as well as three collaborative EPs with lover mentor Legowelt under ‘surfer house’ pseudonym Trackman LaFonte & Bonquiqui and the harder darker XAMIGA. The Dutch legend Legowelt also makes an appearance as a David Icke styled psychic in the beautifully tongue in cheek video for ‘The Calling’.

May 2nd marks Xosar’s eagerly anticipated debut in the UK. Much like the family at Rush Hour (who are fostering her album debut for release later this year), she’s all about the music. No frills, no hype, no PR stunts. Just hardware and lots of it. She sincerely aspires to “resonate within the depths of human existence, conjure emotion, and heighten consciousness levels”. It’s fitting that she chose ReviveHERs intimate StudioWHO above the bigger clubs in London to premier her work.

Antal Rush Hour

Rush Hour’s founding father Antal states that the shop remains a crucial part of their success. It’s essential they have somewhere record buying enthusiasts and producers can go to share their ideas. There is no greater DJs’ DJ than Antal. He is an obsessive musicologist who handpicks every record for the store and finds time to run a sub label called 'Kindred Spirits', releasing world music and left field Jazz, old and new - an enterprise that supports his vision of a global musical community. His record collection harvests a wild variety of fruits – a most highly regarded attribute at ReviveHER. We welcome his musical mission with open arms.

San Proper

Despite it’s international influence Rush Hour remains a loyal family affair. They are true to their kin, adopting all the weirdest, most wonderfully anarchic children of the ‘dam. King of the Carnival, San Proper is an Amsterdam original who brings a sound like none other, although that’s not to say his music hasn’t appealed to tastemakers across the spectrum.

Outside Rush Hour he’s had releases on Dekmantel and Perlon (including a game changing remix for Villalobos). He uses synthesisers and sampled found sounds, guitars and ethnic instruments to accompany his distinctive vocal chanting (the mainstay of his live show). His kick-starting debut ‘Proper’s A’dam Family’ was a collaborative series that began with Dutch friends including Tom Trago in 2007. He returned to Rush Hour to release his madcap album debut ‘Animal’ in 2012 has now launched his own ‘Proper’s Cult’ label and this year has releases on Tom Trago’s Voyage Direct, ARMA17, Lessizmore, a new release for Perlon and more Rush Hour.

San Proper is a beast that refuses to be tamed.

Tickets are in high demand. Due to the intimate nature of the space we highly advise purchasing tickets in advance.
