The Word House is a diverse and high-quality spoken word night based in the heart of East London.

It showcases some of the finest talent on the UK’s live literature scene and offers Open Mic slots for anybody who wants to share their work.

Welcoming in the summer, three incredible featured poets, resident host Dan Simpson, Open Mic slots and original music mixed by DJ Able.

This time round -

// JOSHUA IDEHEN
Mercurial poet Joshua Idehen is the front man of fro-funk band Benin City and a leading spoken word artist in the UK. The grime-inspired wordsmith instils a real sense of emotion and humour throughout his material, with work featured by BBC Radio One and publications including The Sunday Times.

// JESS GREEN
Dear Mr Gove is Jess Green’s most recent poem, lambasting the “Dark Ages” curriculum of Education Secretary Michael Gove. In less than a month, it has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times on Youtube, received media coverage from the likes of the Independent, whilst sparking a string of passionate debates across the country.

// ROB AUTON
‘Charming, eccentric and uplifting’ says The Independent, Rob Auton is the winner of the 2013 Funniest Joke of The Edinburgh Fringe Award. With expert comic timing, he is a widely celebrated stand-up poet with performances featured by the likes of Channel 4 Random Acts.
