SURREAL ESTATE I. is a SHIFT PRODUCTION.
We look back on a productive last year. Definitve a chapter in our berlin chronologies, we will never forget. Everything started with very common for Berlin with the hopeless search for a job, when suddently an idea came up and the concept for SHIFT was written.
After countless exhibiitons, events and projects all among art and music, Dimitri Hegemann offered us a wonderful opportunity. We could realize our dreams with turning an old garage in front of KRAFTWERK into a great project room that we used for more than 120 projects in the first year after our opening. With the trust of Tresor and a lot of help of friends and many artist we developed into a new adress for upcoming young contemorary art and music and we had a great start, expanding the offer of cultural content in the city.
With the closing of SHIFT we realized that it is not about a room or place, the main idea was and is to promote a young, interesting and experimental programm, which will continue now in different venues and spaces all over the city.
Chesters is now our first stop and we open the night under the title "SURREAL ESTATE I.", which will turn the club into another experience, mixed with some selected visual art, performance and of course SHIFT proof music all night long.
Always remember, when one door closes, another two will open soon.
Michael Aniser (noisekölln)
Michael Aniser is a renown Berlin-based party/concert curator/DJ of hybrid experimental music. He also works as a freelance journalist for various magazines and websites, including electronicbeats.net, Spex, De:Bug and for Berlin Community Radio (BCR). Started dj-ing in those ever-weirder early morning hours at the legendary Berlin underground space RAUM.
Frieder Blume (parallel)
With his first experiences of making music starting in the childhood, Frieder Blume developed a sensitive and profound understanding for sounds and music. While in the first years after discovery of electronic music his productions have been subjected to quite a lot of variations, he meanwhile found a coherent foundation of a rough, hypnotic and gritty sound. Coming along with the process of discovering the most genuine way of expression he focused on analogue gear.
Frieder is having a side project Unequality /B.E.F..
When the car arrives you will come with me. We will be dressed in sheer night and a bright ocean. Glasses brimmed with poison of the wandering worlds, cloaked in caves deeper than ground itself. The supply is inexhaustible- with ripping nails we move ahead- eyes wild like branches, lashed by winter wind, accompanied by furious trombones and universe's drums. MMGG evermore arbitrarily swallows crystal bodies.
Unhuman (Liber Null)
Unhuman is a noise project founded in 2012 in Athens Greece by releasing his first tape Emperor Black from species records. First release party was an art exhibition at Junk records with a contact - piezo mic system run through amplifiers and creating an outstanding loud feedback. Guest at this exhibition could demonstrate noise by themselves by walking inside the 'creepy room'. He also released a split tape at Red Venice Records with To The Lovers Farewell. Now he is back on studio recording for his first 12" vinyl. The Unhuman project is all about darkness and misanthropy. A radical extreme sound with drone and rhythm influences mixed with the worst human's nightmares. As a dj he spins industrial, power noise and dark tech. He is also the founder and organizer of Lärm-Alarm-Lärm, Liber Null and member of Species.
