It was the heart of winter, cold and snowy in Virginia. Not the most convenient time of year to be pregnant, especially if you are a stray kitty on the streets of Gloucester. Thank goodness a volunteer at Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society looked beyond the circumstances of this very pregnant kitty. Skinny and flea bitten, Rosa was a beautiful bicolor, silver brushed beauty who just needed some help and good nutrition to restore her to her former glory. Sharon quickly offered momma Rosa a safe and warm place to have her kittens and the love she would need to flourish into the beauty everyone knew she could be. And so the fostering began.
Buddy and Daisy were born into Sharon's care on February 18th, along with their brother Boone. Sharon immediately started sharing the small family on Facebook and soon, Rosa found a loving home to go to and baby Boone has his own Love Train to ride soon. Where does that leave Buddy and Daisy?
After a few weeks, it was determined that Buddy had a brain disorder that affects his motor skills. But he won't let this affect him hopping aboard his Love Train, no sir! Despite the disorder, Buddy functions just like a normal kitten, though he is a bit more wobbly in his endeavors. It even adds to his cuteness factor! And through of this, his new parents, Matthew and Sarah, never missed a beat in saying "Of course, we will still love and want him!" Buddy is a courageous little kitten who looks forward to being spoiled as an only furrchild in San Pedro, CA!
In San Diego, CA, a friend of Sharon's had followed the birth of the kittens and knew the moment she saw the pictures of the kittens, Daisy had to become a member of her family! It was impossible not to love little Daisy, who had no doubt charmed her way into everyone's hearts with her sweet face. She will travel with big brother Buddy, for protection of course, until it's time for them to part ways so she can meet her new momma, Neala!
This little family is a testament to the power of social media and long distance love. A testament that if you work hard enough, something good will come from whatever it is you put your mind to. Just like URRKN. And thanks to URRKN, Buddy and Daisy will get to go home! So tell Sharon to pack your kitty bags, Buddy and little Daisy! You too will soon be on your way via the love train. Choo choo!
