MIRACLES HAPPEN TO THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN THEM
LET’S MAKE HAYDN’S DREAM COME TRUE
LET’S GIVE LIGHT, LET’S GIVE LOVE AND
LET’S GIVE LIFE
Tessabella & Co and GarethShine Inc have teamed up once again for a charity event and we have the team of Frequency Parties and the Black Party joining us to support this occasion.
All proceeds raised from this event will go to Haydn Jones; a four year old boy with a Cerebral Palsy.
Cerebral palsy is an umbrella term that refers to a group of disorders affecting a person’s ability to move. It is due to damage to the developing brain either during pregnancy or shortly after birth.
Cerebral palsy affects people in different ways and can affect body movement, muscle control, muscle coordination, muscle tone, reflex, posture and balance. People who have cerebral palsy may also have visual, learning, hearing, speech, epilepsy and intellectual impairments. It is a permanent life-long condition and there is no cure. However there are many interventions that can help reduce its impact on the body and the individual’s quality of life. An intervention is a service that aims to improve the condition of cerebral palsy and the day-to-day experience of the person living with it.
There are different types of cerebral palsy. Haydn’s condition is called spastic cerebral palsy which is due to damage to the motor cortex of his brain after birth, which affected his ability to walk, stand upright and move his legs. His condition also affected his ability to communicate using speech and may mean that alternative methods of communication are used. There is no cure and as he gets older other parts of his body may suffer and his ability to walk may get worse and eventually may need a wheelchair.
However, there are treatments and operation that can help Haydn. It is called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) which cuts the nerves at the bottom of his spine, removing the spasticity in his legs permanently! After the operation he will have to go through a lot of therapy but funds need to be available instantly to help him get back on his feet and hopefully learn how to walk again.
Just Giving and Tree of Hope in the UK supports Haydn. These are small charity organisation that endeavour to provide assistance to families of sick and disabled children trying to raise money for specialist medical surgery, treatment, therapy and equipment.
We are hoping to raise around $44,000 (£30,000 Euro). This will cover the cost of Haydn’s therapy for up to two years after the operation. As this is not an Australian charity organisation, unfortunately donations are not claimable through tax. However, we are in the process of establishing the charity through ‘Just Giving’ here in Australia and have this organisation transfer all contributions from Sydney to the UK which then can be tax deductible.
If we exceed the target, or if we do not raise enough funds, or if they cannot be used for any other reason, the funds raised will go to Tree of Hope to assist other sick children.
Our mission is simple and that is to make Haydn’s dream come true; be like any other kids that can walk, run, play and be able to move and talk normally.
Let’s give love, let’s make a difference to someone’s life this year….and make him the happiest boy ever….
The pledge of $50 will get names on our guest list to the ‘Cerebral Cocktail Party’ on 14th June 2014 and this donation will go towards Haydn’s charity.
The Cerebral Cocktail Party will encompass a variety of performances we have lined up for all our guests and this includes:
- DJs playing different eras to take us back to the 80s, 90s, 2000s and today’s music.
- Singers and dancers
This event will collaborate with a 'fashion show' that will inspire everyone with new exclusive designs by Sydney’s fashion designers. The designs are alluring, glamorous and seductive yet with simplicity.
