Dear student/guest of Radboud University Nijmegen,
We would like to invite you to join the excursion, organised by the International Office in cooperation with Radboud International Students to the Keukenhof and Den Haag, on Saturday May 10th, 2014.
The Keukenhof gardens, located about 40 kilometres from Amsterdam, is the world’s largest flower garden. This historic park brimming with tulips, hyacinths, daffodils and other spring bulbs - is the place to be in spring-time. Keukenhof is world-famous and has been one of the most popular attractions in the Netherlands for years.
A stroll through the 32-hectare Keukenhof with its 15 kilometres of footpaths is extremely relaxing and awe-inspiring. There are over 7 million flower bulbs – planted by hand in the park – and 4,5 million tulips in 100 varieties! There is even a Walk of Fame with tulips named after famous people.
The Keukenhof garden was established in 1949 to give growers from all over Europe the opportunity to present their hybrids in a live flower exhibit. Don’t forget your camera – the Keukenhof is the most photographed place in the world.
Den Haag, or The Hague, is the seat of the Dutch government and parliament, the supreme court, the council of state, and last but not least the working palace of our king Willem Alexander. Besides these national hotemetoten (VIP's) the Hague is also know as the capital of international justice, hosting the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice. It moreover has a very lively city centre, which is surely worth a visit.
