69th Cherry Festival in Pastena June 8, 2014, one of the most traditional festivals that take place between those in Lazio, in the province of Frosinone.
The production and marketing of cherries in the territory Pastena is very old. On 9 May 1936, by decree of the Mayor and Mayor Prefectural Pastena Col.Ernesto Trani instituted a fair of goods and cattle, to be held on the first Sunday of June each year. At the fair the people carrying goods with donkeys and oxen that pulled the wagons loaded with wooden cherries. Over the years, the wagon and the animals were decorated with cherries, becoming a traditional festival, which has now become the famous "Cherry Festival".
The festival became associated with the celebrations dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes has always been revered by the people in the small "Church of the Caves" and monastery dedicated to the work of Sister Mary Magliozzi, the original benefactor of Gaeta, who built the monastery of the nuns who taught Romite Baptistine and helping the needy families of the place. On the Saturday evening before the festival takes place Mass with procession that winds its way from the church to the square in front of the caves.
The festivities are taken care of by 'Municipal Administration, the Master of the Feast and volunteers.
The parade of floats takes place on Sunday afternoon in a path that goes from the square in front of the church of Our Lady of Lourdes until you reach the square of the caves, it is made from different districts, competing, working incessantly for several months to construction of the various wagons, with the intent of creating the most beautiful chariot.
On each wagon there are young and old, in traditional costume, singing and dancing to folk songs and popular music ciociara wowing doing entertain the large audience present.
At the end of the parade was awarded the most beautiful chariot that takes possession of the scope of the Festival Trophy (a beautiful sculpture by Patrick Alo) that every year it is being returned and passed to the new winners are then distributed free baskets of cherries to all visitors participants, so that everyone can delight in the tasty fruit.
