What constitutes ascension? Is it a material phenomenon? Is it a metaphysical one? These questions, a deep interest in human consciousness, and the notion of virtue are at the heart of the practice of Sam Nejati, a painter from Tehran, Iran, whose work reflects a search for capturing the otherworldly. How can we visualize that which is by its very nature beyond our senses? How can one ascend in a spiritual sense and overcome the wounds inflicted on the ontological self by sorrow, grief or heartbreak? We welcome you to form part of an exhibition and a conversation about these and other ideas, which are of interest not just to art, but philosophy, physics, psychology, and cognitive sciences.
