Celebration of pecorino romano in Nepi

Nepi, water city, is celebrating Pecorino Romano Latium and the typical products of Tuscia.

The "City of Water" celebrates the Pecorino Romano Latium and the typical products of Tuscia. On 10 and 11 May Nepi, the beautiful center between Rome and Viterbo leading name in the signs of his ancestral link with this element of nature (Nepa in Etruscan means water) is organizing the eleventh edition of a festival that highlights not only the good kitchen, but all the typical characteristics of an area rich in history. And so you can discover the unique taste of Pecorino Romano Latium, a real rarity whose production is almost entirely destined to foreign markets; and still taste the best local specialties such as salami, pizza with onion, scapicollata, honey and jams.

Between courses and the other visitors curious can go to discover the Gorges, gorges fascinating millennial erosion that outline the landscape around Nepi, or the countless sources of mineral water and sulfur, or the Rock of Lucrezia Borgia where he stayed . Between gastronomy, nature and culture, will also entertainment space with antique and craft market, the magic show and "children's make-up", the exhibition mycological, the music and folklore and the Competition Sweets dessert with ricotta Roman.

But the prince of the two-day festival will remain the Pecorino Romano DOP that product in Lazio, a very intense cheese flavor which undergoes the curd to a temperature of 45-46 degrees and you can taste grated or brought directly to the table. Pecorino will still be in good company, from pizza with onion Nepesina, flat and round, cooked salami, a tradition that dates back to early 900 'until the scapicollata, a particular seasoned bacon and seasoned with natural flavorings.

Nepi, a city of ancient origins, has retained many traces of its glorious past. In the town center is worth visiting the Town Hall Square, adorned with a fountain by Bernini, on which stands the palace designed by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger; and yet the aqueduct, completed in 1727, which remains one of the most charming and picturesque of the whole city, as well as the cathedral with its five naves of the twelfth century and the crypt to 12 columns. For two days, in short, the "City of Water" first, which later became the "city of Cipollari", showcases the best of gastronomy and traditions of a territory, Tuscia Lazio, which is really worth discovering.
