The JOYFIT Project is a whole body wellness program created exclusively for women following breast cancer surgery which is being launched this summer by Sue Ansari RN, lymphatic therapist, raw food chef, Food for Life instructor, Laughter Yoga teacher, Cancer Guide, wellness coach, breast cancer survivor and advocate.
Certified JOYFIT Leaders will then present this empowering program succinctly in two-hour sessions over a six-week period to breast cancer survivors at cancer centers, support groups, hospitals, churches, and privately across the country. The JOYFIT Program through an existing non-profit corporation will aid JOYFIT Leaders in obtaining grants to fund the majority of such programs, thus making the program accessible to more survivors for free or at a nominal fee.
What will be covered during the training:
~ How the lymphatic and circulatory systems are related
~ How a healthy lymphatic system promotes wellness
~ How to increase lymphatic flow
~ How surgery and radiation compromise lymphatic pathways
~ How to reduce the risk of lymphedema after breast cancer surgery/radiation
~ How a plant-based diet decreases risk of recurrence
~ How a low-fat, high fiber diet decreases inflammation and disease in general
~ How to prepare several easy low-fat, high fiber recipes to share
~ How physical exercise improves overall mortality and recurrence
~ How laughter creates a negative pressure within the thorax, thus increasing lymphatic flow
~ How laughter promotes overall wellness
~ How positive thoughts encourage positive outcomes
~ How to effectively clear the mind of clutter
~ How to effectively demonstrate how and why specific movements and stretches promote increased lymphatic flow
~ How to effectively conduct laughter exercises geared to the needs of the breast cancer survivor
~ How to effectively lead a guided meditation
~ And SO much more!
Who should be trained as a Certified JOYFIT Leader:
~ Medical professionals, especially those working with cancer survivors
~ Lymphatic and massage therapists
~ Psychologists, social workers
~ Nutrition and wellness coaches
~ Cancer coaches
~ Yoga and fitness instructors
~ Alternative therapists and healers
~ Vegan cooks, chefs, advocates, instructors
~ Anyone whose life has been touched by cancer and wants to pass on some JOY!
~ Laughter Yoga Leaders and Teachers (preferred, but not required)
~ Food for Life Instructors (preferred, but not required)
~ Raw Food Chefs (preferred, but not required)
~ Institute of Integrative Nutrition grads (preferred, but not required)
~ Anyone committed to a primarily vegan lifestyle (required, but not required)
~ Anyone who is willing to learn about the benefits of integrative cancer care (required)
~ Anyone committed to improving the quality of life for breast cancer survivors (required!)
~ A passion for improving the lifestyle of breast cancer survivors
~ The ability to understand the importance of and willingness to express a JOYful demeanor
~ The physical ability to learn and present basic breathing, stretching and simple dance techniques
~ Excellent oral presentation skills
~ Personal adherence to a plant-based, meat-free, dairy-free diet (suggested, but not required)
~ Willingness to learn simple cooking and food prep skills
~ Strong organizational skills
~ Strong business/entrepreneurial skills
~ An e-mail address with access to the Internet
~ The time and financial means to attend a three-day training
Certified JOYFIT Leader Training Fee: $695
(easily recouped with first training)
Academics will be taught online prior to the face-to-face training. All necessary training materials and online training dates will be sent at least one month prior to the scheduled training date.
