"Beauty was not simply something to behold; it was something one could do." - Toni Morrison.
THE BLUEST EYE, a children's fable for adults is the story of a year in the life of eleven-year-old Pecola Breedlove, who wants nothing more than to be loved. Unaware of the power of beauty, she blames her dark skin and prays for shimmering blue eyes-sure that love will follow. The play explores the crippling toll that centuries of racism and standards of beauty take on a community, a family, and an innocent girl. Directed by James Wheatley.
