"The Art of Parking" presented by Wilson Project in occasion of Kunstvlaai 2014, it's a project by Renato Leotta realized in collaboration with Dario Lino Costa, Elisa Troiano and Alex Tripodi.
An intervention of stitching between landscape and man as a response to the identity crisis that we European people are living. The "Mediterranean Thought," recently defined as the blue pit from which to draw some answers to this confusion, suggests an original image of common understanding.
The disillusioned poetics of the “mare nostrum” with the enclosed colors-sounds-scents from the melodic past and the most recent “global-social” debate, leave space to a comparison on our times, through a contemporary practice that is part of the latest expertise of rituality and traditions as well as representing an intimate quantum model and a refuge for the man of the last century.
A device loaded with possible narratives, capable of enclosing our fears, our doubts, our certainties, sums up in this simple action a new key to understand our times and a suggestion for a common European poetics.
Kunstvlaai represents a broad spectrum of initiatives that manifest themselves through their indicative programming and aspirations for experimentation. Founded in 1997, the event was initiated as a response to the commercial contemporary art fair in Amsterdam. Worldwide it has become the oldest, recurring event that focusses on art initiatives.
The programme of Kunstvlaai 2014 reflects the three parameters that form the base of every art initiative, namely space, people and context. This year taking place in Amstelpark, Amsterdam, around 50 European artist-led spaces will present themselves through a spatial intervention and participation in Spaces in Dialogue, a three-day programme of round table discussions, designed to facilitate dialogue between initiatives.
