17th Sub-Junior & 18th Challenger Sprints National Rowing Championships-Kolkata-2014

Another National Championships is round the corner.
The 17th Sub-Junior & the 18th Challenger Sprints National Rowing Championships - both rowed over 500 meters will be held in the Rabindra Sarobar, Kolkata from the 1st to 8th June, 2014.

The eligibility criteria for Sub-Juniors are:
(a) No doubling in ‘Double Sculls’ Events between Under 13 Y & 15 Y.
(b) For the under 15 years Events - A Rower (Boy or Girl) is considered to be as Sub Junior till 31st December in the year in which he/she reaches the age of 15 years.
(c) For the under 13 years Events - A Rower (Boy or Girl) is considered to be as Sub Junior till 31st December in the year in which he/she reaches the age of 13 years.
(d) A Sub-Junior cannot participate in the Challengers

The eligibility criteria for Challengers are:
A Rower ceases to be a Challenger when he achieves any one of the following:
(a) A medal in any Senior National Rowing Championships (Senior/Open / Sprint / Challengers) in any Class i.e. whether in Sweep or Sculling events
(b) Gets selected to represent RFI or India in International Championships.
(c) However for a Junior, participation in any International Junior Championships is excluded from this definition

Rules and Regulations
a) The competition will be conducted in accordance with the RFI Rules of Racing.
b) All races will be conducted on a three lane marked course. If three entries are there for an event the race will be held as straight ‘Final’.
c) In any event if there are less than three crews the event will be cancelled.
d) All teams must wear their racing uniforms as per the officially approved colours. Teams violating this rule will not be permitted to participate in the races.
e) “Tripling” is not permitted.
f) “Doubling” within ‘Sculling and Sweep’ events is not permitted.

Boats and Equipment
1) Indian made FRP Boats will be provided. Boats will be fixed to the Lanes.
2) Teams must bring their own OARS and SCULLS.
3) Blades of all oars and sculls must be painted on both sides in the colours of their respective State Association.
4) Priority of sharing oars will be given to Sub-Juniors. Challengers must bring own oars.
5) No coxless boat will be allowed to start without rudder. Use of rudder in Fours and Pairs is mandatory as per RFI Rules.

Medals and Certificates
Medals and Certificates will be presented to first three winners in each event and Participation Certificates will be issued as per the qualifying provisions laid down by the RFI.
