The Journey started out as a podcast showcasing various different genres of dance music over a 1+ hour mix (usually 2-3 hours). Each podcast aims to give you a unique perspective on the world of dance music, some looking at its origins and others focusing on the music of today.
The Journey – Live aims to offer that same experience. It will focus on the music first – presenting some of the finest progressive trance, classics which DJs are too afraid to play out these days, uplifting & tech trance, psychedelic trance and a very special take on one legend’s unique contribution to the Dance Music (special tribute set to be announced on the night).
The DJs that have been selected to play at this event come from a range of backgrounds but each has a passion for what they play. They have been booked on merit for this event. No DJs are being asked to sell tickets or buy tickets themselves.
Adam Thomas is truly one of the most under rated DJs & producers on the planet. Not only has he had numerous tracks in the Beatport Top 100 under his Façade alias, he has played some of London’s most prestigious venues such as Ministry of Sound (twice!) and the Lightbox. He also has been producing long enough that he has had a track released on vinyl! It is an absolute privilege to have him playing for this event.
David Murtagh is one of the most honest, fair and brilliant DJs you will ever meet. Having run the infamous Prehab nights at the Southside Bar, Turnmills & Ministry of Sound for well over a decade, David’s passion for different genres knows no bounds. It was an absolute no brainer asking David to play at this night because he is an amazing DJ and has expert taste in music.
Paul Milner’s has an extremely diverse taste when it comes to choosing the different types of music he enjoys and we can't wait to see what he has in store for us in October. Look out for a forthcoming guest mix from Paul on the podcast over the coming months as he gets set to play this night. Can't wait to see what he will bring to the table for this event.
RJ Thorne found success producing under the alias ‘Terrafusion’, having massive success with the 69th release on John 00 Fleming’s JOOF recordings with ‘Numen’. RJ has also had hits on Abora Recordings, MPFS, Prehab, Unearthed & Bonzai. As a DJ, RJ held down a resident’s spot at Brixton’s Compulsive night which ran monthly events for a few years from 2006-2008 and although he no longer really produces or DJs, he has agreed to play this night and we are very much looking forward to having him!
SWAP needs no introduction. Having played pretty much every big night in the midlands on numerous occasions, SWAP’s musical knowledge is next to unrivalled. An absolutely outstanding DJ, who can play a set of any genre and produce a brilliant set. It’s a thrill to have SWAP playing at this event because we know just how good he is!
Finally, the host – Tom Yelland. Tom has been obsessed by Dance music his entire life, amassing a collection of music which would probably out rival a lot of the biggest DJs in the world today. Having started playing out after winning the MPFS DJ competition in 2004, Tom has played some of the biggest clubs in London including, Ministry of Sound, Southside Bar, Heaven and Club 414. Expect a plethora of different genres from Tom during the course of the night.
