Listed & The EndUp present PLAY w/ John Tejada, H Foundation, Hear and +biri

The Endup 401 6th Street, San Francisco, CA, USA

Come PLAY with us the First Saturday of the month at our new monthly featuring world class artists at the legendary EndUp!

PLAY is a party series best described as recess for adults. It's all the fun you aren't supposed to be having because you're supposedly a grown up now. With all the kids you shouldn't hang out with, but they're too much fun not to. And all the music that makes you glad you’ve grown up – just a little. The bells have rung. It's time to PLAY.

Keeping the playground bumping till the closing bell will be:

H FOUNDATION (Surface, Supplement Facts, Magnetic)
HEAR (Archipel, Made in Montreal, Ground Zero)
+BIRI (Hyde & Sikh)

H Foundation, aka Hipp-E and Halo began their collaboration about 15 years ago. Labeled as pioneers who helped create the genre of music which would become tech house, the two became one of the most influential artists on the scene. Their first project together, 420 sessions, was an instant classic and was played by every dj, from all genres. The duo would later be dubbed "kings of the west coast" and they cut an edge in music that remains today. They have released productions on labels like Yoshitoshi, Low Pressings, Tango, Siesta, Soma, and NRK. In 2000, H Foundation became the first U.S. artists to become residents at the famed Fabric in London, along with Doc Martin. Soon thereafter, they were featured on the Fabric 07 mix CD, which stands as one of the most successful mixes in the Fabric series.

Fast forward to 2013. After several years exploring their own interests both personal and musically, the pair decide to take to the studio. They are set to release their next LP on DJ Sneak's Magnetic imprint in July of this year. Titled "Passage", it features an anthology of sorts and brings to light some classic originals and remixes of a sound that the pair were most known for. They have several remixes and releases coming out this year and are now taking dates and will be touring 2014 and beyond. The pair are very excited and very inspired by the music and scene and they hope to see you in your area soon!

Normally associated with his peers in techno from Detroit, Europe and elsewhere, John Tejada has embraced electronic music as a personal frontier, expanding on his resume as a techno recording artist, producer, remixer, DJ, and label owner. Known for crafting a brand of subtle, musical techno, his recorded output ranges across tempo and genre, from chilled out affairs to pulsating, densely layered, deeply energetic tracks that work magnificently in the hands of DJs as well as on the home stereo.

John began traveling internationally in ‘97 to showcase his DJ skills around the globe, traveling to more than 20 countries and playing various clubs and festivals around the world. Festivals included Movement (formerly The Detroit Electronic Music Festival), Sonar Festival (in Spain and Tokyo), Dance Valley (Netherlands), Sync Festival (Greece), Mutek Mexico, as well as internationally known spaces such as Fabric (London), Yellow (Tokyo), Rex Club (Paris), The Walt Disney Concert Hall (Los Angeles) and many more.

In the summer of 2004, John would - in one week - create the two songs that would catapult his techno career. The classic “Sweat On The Walls,” (Pokerflat) and “Mono On Mono” (Palette) were released almost at the same time. Together the two records sold over 23,000 copies on vinyl. This lead to the equally successful follow up singles “Paranoia,” “Mind Bend” (with more recent collaborator and Palette-signing, Justin Maxwell) “Voyager,” and “The End Of It All.”

Musician/DJ HEAR (Sary Sehnaoui) worked as a film director before branching out to pursue musical interests. He refined his deep, shuffling house and techno textures and unforeseen impulses behind the decks. HEAR has released a 12'' EP with MOVE D & an album "Sonic Limbo" on Archipel, that he performed Live at Mutek 2013. He also released a track for Goodnight Moon Recordings and has collaborated with several musicians amongst them the russian classical pianist Alexandre Solopov. His music is intuitive and stimulating with a mix of several influences, generating visual effects from its harmonies.

He has been throwing sporadically his own parties "Made in Montreal" and currently holds a residency in Montreal at Salon Daomé for the night "Ground-Zero". Being a DJ for more than 10 years, he has performed in many venues, festivals and clubs such as Piknic Electronic, Igloofest, Stereo, Rude Cruise (NY), B018 and many other parties.

+biri lives in the Bay area, CA and is part of Hyde & Sikh, a local sound camp. Early dance music influences come from collecting 70s disco vinyl in India, and growing up on hip hop and local house music on the South Side of Chicago in the 80s. He prefers deep, darker, moody house and techno, the Chicago house sound, as well as old school NuDisco and hip hop. He has played often at Burning Man, the SF Qool Happy Hour parties, and clubs in SF like Harlot and Monroe.
