The Poor Nobodys album release with The Murder of Crows and Anonymous Choir
After a pre-release tour through Europe, The Poor Nobodys are proud to celebrate the hometown release of 'Ink no Ink' at The Cedar. Also performing that night will be Anonymous Choir, featuring Nona Marie Invie (of Dark Dark Dark) and Duluth duo The Murder of Crows, featuring Gaelynn Lea and Alan Sparhawk (of Low), will open with a set of their haunting, mostly instrumental dark music.
Since 2008, The Poor Nobodys have been making collective, collaborative music built on vivid extremes. The music is orchestrated with cello, piano, upright bass, acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin, banjo, accordion and vocals. In addition to two studio albums, the ensemble also writes and performs live original scores for film and theater projects, including classic movie adaptations and modern abstract pieces by contemporary filmmakers.
Working with cinematic imagery has been a natural fit for the group’s music, often described as epic, sultry, even classical at times. Scoring for the dramatic images in film, especially silent film, has influenced the evolution of their sound, which is evident with their newest album.
