Nick Goldschmidt is a New Zealand (Kiwi) winemaker, who trained in Australia and arrived in the Napa Valley in 1989. From 1990 to 2003 he was the winemaker for Simi Winery in the Alexander Valley. From 2003- 2006 Nick was the Sr VP winemaker for Allied Domecq wines, managing 7 countries with brands such as Clos Du Bois, Mumm Napa, Garry Farrel, Buena Vista, William Hill, Brancott, Grafigna, Ysios, Tarsus and Campo Viejo. From 2006 - 2008 he was the Sr VP for Jim Beam wine esates including the above wineries and Geyser Peak and Wild Horse. Nick spends five months a year on the road consulting for 26 wineries in seven countries, including Mission Hill in New Zealand, Viña Errázuriz in Chile and Don Sebastiani & Sons in California. Today, his best-known labels are Forefathers and Goldschmidt. Mr. Goldschmidt consults in six countries for various clients and makes wine for a number of his own labels and projects, but it’s his Midas touch and his deft understanding of viticulture that defines a style that’s anything but a besmirchment — his recipe is one part land, one part fruit-forward, acid-balanced deliciousness. He makes wines that are varietally true, evocative of place, AND quaffably delicious – a trifecta that most so-called, “Flying Winemakers” only get partially correct, forgetting the acidic balance while crafting velvet enrobed hammers that please elite critics. One of Goldschmidt’s projects is a label under his Goldschmidt Vineyards brand called, “3 Sisters.” Started when his brood numbered three, the 3 Sisters brand includes annual varietal bottling’s representing daughter’s Chelsea, Hilary and Katherine. Twenty-five year veteran winemaker, Nick Goldschmidt, returns to his New Zealand roots each year to showcase two of New Zealand's preeminent varietals: Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.
About the Warwick, Randolph's and the Playboy Club History: Warwick Denver Hotel has always been a popular hotspot to see and be seen. The top floors were once home to Hugh Hefner's Playboy Club, which opened in 1967 and so of course, the world’s most famous playboy, Hugh Hefner, occasionally visited until the club closed in 1977. Randolph’s Restaurant and Bar exists only in the Denver and New York locations. The restaurant was named after William Randolph Hearst, who built the original hotel in New York (the first Warwick Hotel in the U.S.) for his Hollywood friends to visit.
