The headliners for Ireland’s premier electronic music festival, Celtronic 2014 have now been revealed. This will be the fourteenth edition of the acclaimed festival which has been described as ‘Ireland’s answer to Sonar’ and regularly attracts thousands of music fans to the city of Derry to dance to the world’s best electronic music talent. From Wednesday June 25th – Sunday June 29th. Celtronic 2014 will showcase some of the biggest names from all areas of electronic music at some of Derry’s finest venues.
Live performances from some of the key acts in modern dance music is a major element of this year’s programme. Techno fans will be salivating at the prospect of KARENN, the live collaborative project from UK producers BLAWAN & PARIAH, playing in the north for the first time while one of today’s most innovative electronic musicians, MAX COOPER, whose ‘Human’ album has been tipped to be one of the albums of the year, will also bring his acclaimed live show to the festival.
Mainland Europe is well represented at Celtronic 2014. Following superb recent performances at Bugged Out Weekender and Snowbombing, Denmark's KOLSCH has set himself up to become one of 2014’s most exciting artists. Fittingly described as romantic techno, Kölsch’s melodic anthems have gained a vast amount of support from the world’s leading talent. Completing the live lineup at Celtronic 2014 are German/Dutch trio MOVE D, JUJU & JORDASH, who will bring their MAGIC MOUNTAIN HIGH project to the festival for a special session of live improvised house music.
Some of the finest DJs in the world will appear at Celtronic 2014. Hessle Audio co-founders BEN UFO and PEARSON SOUND, two names synonymous with cutting edge UK dancefloor music will open the festival with a 5 hour set while Chicago house legend, DERRICK CARTER will bring the festival to a close with an extended set that will feature the flawless technical skills and effortlessly joyful attitude of rocking a crowd that has made him a major celebrity among dance-music aficionados.
Arguably house music’s best record label, Innervisions, has been a regular feature at Celtronic with Dixon and Henrik Schwarz appearing at previous editions. This year it is the turn of AME to show why they and their label mates are among the most in-demand artists in dance music. Other major league DJs appearing at the festival include one of modern electronic music’s most beloved souls, MOVE D, an unassuming heavyweight in house music as a producer for countless forward thinking labels, a collaborator and a truly original selector. Festival favourite and one of Ireland’s leading exports, SPACE DIMENSION CONTROLLER, returns with his smooth blend of cosmic-funk and analogue-techno.
