Geoff Hatt (once a Gatt then a Hatt with marriage) will play his new album ‘It’s all going on’ plus some treasures from the seabed of his past with the help of his Rock Pool Band in one of his favourite old rocking grounds The Menagerie bar in Belfast’s University Street.
Geoff Hatt (previously Geoff Gatt until merging surnames on marriage) is what some might call a fixture of the Belfast artistic scene. Not immediately categorized: a songwriter, actor and general entertainer, he is none the less an artist who loves many colours of expression and variety in general.
Known for his song writing and love of performing, some of his achievements to date include his cult musical ‘Hippos In The Shower’ (‘amusingly absurd, a very genuine piece’ Mike Catto for BBC Radio Ulster ) which ran several times to sell out audiences in Belfast and had a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe festival.
His debut album ‘Ten Year Road’ (‘powerfully eloquent and emotionally truthful’, Colin Carberry for Hot Press magazine) documented ten very eventful and sometimes difficult years of his life. Geoff has spent the last few years gathering up songs for ‘It’s All Going On’, recorded with a real live feel with musicians and singers who have been trusty companions in his musical journey.
With this his second album Geoff hopes to touch some truth of his life in the past few years, full of love, fun, some angst but plenty of humour and ultimate hope and positivity, Ukulele included!
Geoff is delighted to have supporting him the one and only Dominic O’Neill !
After stints in numerous bands including The Delawares and, more recently, Leeward Side, Dominic O’Neill is releasing his debut album ‘Dark Copper Seven’ in June 2014. It is a simple and eerie journey through what he was thinking about when he wrote it.
