Crawford College of Art and Design Sharman Crawford Street, Cork, Ireland

Dates: 7th – 15th June

Opening Hours: Monday to Saturday,10am to 6pm, Sunday, 11am to 5pm.

The annual showcase of one of Ireland’s premier art colleges CIT Crawford College of Art and Design, opens on Friday, 6th June 2014. The BA (Hons) in Fine Art and BA (Hons) in Contemporary Applied Arts Degree Show promotes Ireland’s future artists, who have honed their skills in many different areas over the last four years. This year’s show, “Na hOibreacha”, will be held, as always, at the CCAD campus on Sharman Crawford Street in Cork and continues until June 15th.

As well as being an innovative platform for students to exhibit their work, the show also offers an opportunity to purchase original, affordable artwork, helping to demystify the process of purchasing Contemporary Fine Art. Prominent former CCAD graduates have gone onto become internationally renowned artists, such as Alice Maher, Maud Cotter, Dorothy Cross, Cian McConn, Donal Moloney and Morgan Doyle.

CIT Crawford College of Art and Design offers a cutting edge curriculum for students in both Fine Art and Applied Art with a diverse range of workshops available. Students develop, refine and enhance their skills within the support of studio and workshop based education. This course can be a gateway to further education or to a career in the Visual Arts field.

Na hOibreacha will be opened by one of Ireland’s leading contemporary artists Brendan Earley, who has successfully exhibited both in Ireland and internationally. Represented by Mother’s Tankstation, Dublin, Earley works in both Sculpture and large- scale drawings concentrating on transitional landscapes as a point of reference within his practice.

This is the 22nd year of the CIT Crawford Degree Show, which is a cultural and social highlight of the year in Cork City. The work is the culmination of four years of intensive and highly rewarding study. It promises to be a dynamic event, with numerous prizes and bursaries being awarded. 62 students will show work in a variety of media including Ceramics, Glass, Drawing, Painting, Print, Film, Photography, Sculpture and Textiles.
