Dublin city centre’s music and arts festival Forbidden Fruit is set to return this June Bank Holiday weekend.
The two-day festival returns once more to the beautiful grounds of the Irish Museum of Modern Art, having become truly synonymous with the June Bank Holiday weekend in Dublin’s city centre. It is now firmly fixed in the festival calendar as the one to kick-start the Summer prompting all sorts of Summery daydreams…ladybirds, freshly cut grass, t-shirts, sipping cool drinks and rocking to open air live music ‘til the sun goes down. Forbidden Fruit has it all (though you’ll need to be vigilant to catch the ladybirds). With over 50 acts across four stages offering a wide selection of different styles of music, old and new, to suit all tastes you can expect the usual cacophony of great cutting-edge sound, comedy, art, good food and festival fun.
Organisers are very excited to confirm the Saturday will be headlined by US psychedelic folk rock legends THE FLAMING LIPS who will be making their first trip to Ireland in three years – that last trip being when they headlined the inaugural Forbidden Fruit festival.
Joining them on the bill that day will be Irish indie heroes BELL X1 who will be playing their only Dublin show this summer, while the festival secures a major coup by announcing not just the first ever Dublin show by one of the most globally-revered electronic music producers of the last decade FLYING LOTUS, but that he will be bringing his new live 3D audiovisual show.
Also confirmed for Saturday’s bill are a pair of acts who released two of the most acclaimed albums of last year - Bristol experimental duo F*** BUTTONS, and the uniquely beguiling blend of classical electronica of Germany’s NILS FRAHM. English indie rockers THE YOUNG KNIVES and hotly-tipped Dubliners VANN MUSIC complete the lucky seven being announced today.
With many more top-quality music and comedy acts to be announced, Saturday 31st May is already looking like a storming opening day for Dublin’s city centre festival.
