Group Rhoda is a solo project from San Francisco. It is an attempt at dealing with opposition, sharpening intuition, following instincts and turning ideas into actions. It exists under the influence of repetition, bad habits, fear, machines of decades past, the tropics, transient sounds, hazy recollections, light, color, the desolate worlds around me and the spaces that are quieted from social noise. It is an effort to negate the sound of safety, control, wastefulness, weak mirroring, transparent shadowing and follow a path reflective of my own fabricated inner environment and imagination.
Group Rhoda - 12th House - Her songs are now rendered with a higher fidelity and clarity adopting the purposeful innovations of post punk and the hypnotism of modern electronic music to give her deft arrangements a sturdy poise and transcendent appeal. Halfway between Grace Jones and Space Lady.... a supremely canny appropriation of bewitched house music. It's simply one of the strongest pop records you'll hear this year... - Boomkat
Patrick Kelleher's second album 'Golden Syrup' was released in 2011. Moving on from the previous more DIY / lo-fi sound we now find them embracing a more gothic synth sound. Reminiscent of lesser known early 80's electronics pioneers such as Robert Rental, Thomas Leer and John Foxx but also drawing comparisons to such contemporary artists as Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti and John Maus.
