Introduction to Pottery Workshop

The Little Door Opp. Citi Mall, Off New Link Rd, Andheri (W), Mumbai., Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Workshop Objective: This workshop is designed to introduce participants to the medium of ceramics and the craft of pottery. With a brief introduction to the materials being used and the techniques involved in creating the final fired ceramic work, the workshop will be focused on two techniques of working with clay:
Technique 1: Agate - This is a decorative technique in pottery inspired by the textures and colors of the agate stone. As the name suggests, it renders a stone-like quality to the art work
Technique 2: Coil building - Coiling is a hand-building technique of working with clay. It is used to create asymmetrical forms in sculpture as well as functional pieces such as bowls, pots etc.
Each student will make one piece in the agate ware technique and one in coil-building, which will be ready to be collected from The Little Door post firing in 2 weeks, subject to availability of kiln space.

Faculty: Rekha Goyal has received a Masters degree in “Art in Architecture” from the School of Architecture & Visual Arts, London, UK.
