July 18th will see one of EGG’s favourite DJs and label bosses come back to headline once more. Andre Crom will be joined by Miami's Bump N' Grind sensation Jesse Perez and tech house stalwart Samu.l.
Crom’s label OFF Recordings has been a main outlet for his own compelling music as well as that from the likes of Kruse & Nuernberg, Bekoto, Dayne S and others. Founded shortly after his move to Berlin in 2008, OFF has become omnipresent in the Beatport deephouse charts, often having 5 tracks in the top 100 at once. The recipe behind this success is simple: Andre Crom and OFF Recordings release music to give people on the dancefloor a good time. Nothing more and nothing less.
Legend tells it that Jesse Perez was born in a rundown motel in Little Havana (a small Latin neighbourhood in Miami) minutes after being conceived. Son to a Local Pimp, (who is oddly 10 years older than Jesse) Jesse was exposed to the art of Slangin' D as a young boy. His mother who at that time was a stage dancer for a popular local rap group called the "2 Live Crew", would work many shows for these artist and would sneak Jesse in as often as she could. Jesse's first exposure to Bass Music and Ass Clapping made a huge impression on him and nowadays he is a foremost practitioner of the form who has just relased his latest and great album.
Prominent labels including Saved and One Records have been quick to snap up the work of Samu.L, and in turn his music has had great support from big wigs like Marco Carola and Steve Bug.His sets are a representation of his unique own sound, with rolling basslines and a stripped-back style capable of adapting to any set time. London institutions like Fabric, Fuse and Lo*Kee have all enlisted his services as a spinner, so the man’s skills are unquestionable.
With all bases covered from deep house to tech house and big bad bass also thrown in, this is sure to be another classic session down at EGG.
