Chinwag is an evening of easy going chat, over a drink, with creative thinkers and doers.
We are delighted to welcome Acid Jazz impresario Eddie Piller.
Best known for the label he co-founded in 1988 with Gilles Peterson, Eddie’s influence on culture goes back to the beginning of the 80’s and his love of Mod. He has subsequently been there in the continual reinvention of this very British style/music/cultural phenomenon, as a commentator, influencer and now, elder statesman. As a music lover and DJ, he plays all over the world and is renowned for his incredible radio shows. Through his Acid Jazz label, he not only defined a sound and style but helped to launch the careers of, amongst others, James Taylor Quartet, Jamiroquai, the Brand New Heavies, Mother Earth, Corduroy, and Galliano. We are really looking forward to exploring Eddie’s riotous story.
Hosted by therapist Chris Madden, Chinwag invites you to lean in and listen to a conversation about life, creativity and anything else that comes up. Unlike a Q&A, this is an opportunity to get to know someone a bit better, hear a few of their tales, find out what makes them tick, share some insights and maybe ask a few questions too.
Held at the intimate Outlaws Yacht Club in Leeds, Chinwag is a unique chance to explore the lives and minds of our inspiring guests. Past Chinwags have included sell out nights with Andrew Weatherall, Creation Records head-honcho Alan McGee, cultural provocateur Don Letts, celebrated artist Pete Fowler, leftfield dance pioneer Justin Robertson and publishing maverick James Brown to name but a few.
This is a FREE & unique event with limited capacity. Please arrive early, grab a seat, have your tea, have a drink, meet some mates, and enjoy an evening of insights.
