"The Big Apple Acting Excursion" is a once in a lifetime opportunity for New England Actors to experience the New York City acting scene with a group of like-minded artists, as well as to train with and learn from some of the best in the biz. This event is a great follow-up program for those who attended our sold-out and highly rated "New Year – New York – New Work Intensive" that we hosted in February, but it is also open to Talent Tools first-timers and/or those who missed our last workshop. We have coordinated a jam-packed trip that features an On-Camera TV & Film Intensive with Kimberly Graham (Casting Director for the Emmy and Golden Globe winning Showtime Series “Homeland”) and an open interactive forum with the amazing and knowledgeable Shorey Walker of the Actors Connection. We have also arranged early morning charter bus transportation, so that those who want to take advantage of the incredible opportunity to attend the free “Break Your Marketing Mold” seminar with Dallas Travers can do so. Who: Actors age 18+ of all experience levels. Parents of child and teen actors are also welcome.
What: "The Big Apple Acting Excursion."
Where: Our private charter bus will depart from in front of the Crate & Barrel at Natick Mall (located at 1245 Worcester St, Natick, MA 01760,) and will be bringing us to the Actors Connection in New York City.
When: Wednesday, June 11 at 6am.
Why: A unique event, where actors will be able to experience the NYC market in a comfortable environment with their New England acting peers. They will be able to gain insight from and receive critique from experienced industry leaders, have their questions about the business answered, and be provided with networking opportunities.

This event is $199 per person for the entire day, which covers the costs of attending the workshops, transportation, and breakfast. Payment is due in full at time of sign-up. 6:00am Sharp: Bus Departure from the Natick Mall to NYC
Our private charter bus will depart from in front of the Crate & Barrel at the Natick Mall promptly at 6am. We cannot wait for late individuals as it could cause us to miss our first workshop, so please arrive on time. The Natick Mall has plenty of FREE parking, and we will be providing light breakfast items on the bus.
11:00am - 1:00pm: "Break Your Marketing Mold" Seminar with Dallas Travers, The Actors Advocate (this class is a separate entity with it's own sign-up link below)
In this seminar you will learn some of Dallas' favorite marketing strategies designed to turn the business of acting on its head. You will leave with several simple, practical, and actionable steps you can immediately apply to your career. Here’s a quick sampling of what you’ll learn:
- The right way to pursue a new agent or manager.
- How one of Dallas’ students booked four guest stars in four months.
- How to book more work, even without representation.

1:15pm - 2:45pm: "Launch Your Career Over Lunch" with Shorey Walker of the Actors Connection
Are you looking for new ways to re-energize your acting career? During this information-packed power lunch, Shorey Walker of the Actors Connection, NYC will share her resources, knowledge, and concrete strategies learned through years of helping actors get work and find representation. Having worked in the New York City market for over 20 years, Shorey will present you with a wealth of knowledge that you can apply to your own career. You'll also have the opportunity to create your own strategies to move your career forward using tried and true methods as well as current shifts, changes, and industry trends.
When you register you have the choice of purchasing a boxed lunch for $19 extra, which includes a sandwich, chips, salad, and a drink. If you prefer to bring your own lunch or buy something "to go" in the city before the program with Shorey Walker, that is perfectly fine, as well.

3:00pm - 6:00pm: "On-Camera Television and Film Intensive" with Kimberly Graham, CSA
For this intensive, Casting Director Kimberly Graham will select sides based on your headshot and resume, which you will receive and prepare in advance. She will begin with a Question & Answer session, then she will work with you On-Camera in a group classroom setting as she coaches you through your scene in a format that replicates her casting process. Actors will be performing one at a time with a reader and scenes will be recorded on-camera*. Be prepared for constructive feedback and to take adjustments on the fly. She approaches her work with compassion and light-heartedness, and peppers it with firm, constructive criticism, in hopes of taking your auditions to the next level.
*As a courtesy, your video clips will be made available to you within a week. An email notification will be sent when the clips are available to view and download. Please note: from time to time technical issues do occur. As a result, video clips are a courtesy, not a guarantee.
6:00 - 7:30pm: Dinner Break
Participants will have an hour and a half break to eat at the dining destination of their choice (not included in the price of the event.)
7:45pm: Bus Departure from NYC to the Natick Mall
We should arrive back around midnight after a long and fulfilling day.
Kimberly Graham has been the Associate Casting Director at Judy Henderson & Associates since 2003. Her recent casting achievement “Homeland” on Showtime has garnered Emmy and Artios Awards for "Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series," and was a Golden Globe winner for "Best New Series." Other current TV casting credits include an upcoming pilot for NBC "Babylon Fields." Films in casting include "100% Natural," "Back In The Day," "Fair Haven," "Grand Avenue," "Wake Up In New York," and "The Other Side." Notable film casting credits include "Avatar," "Breaking Point," and "Before Midnight." Shorey Walker is currently the Program Coordinator at Actors Connection in New York City. Programs include AC Fast Track, NY Connection, Broadway Connection, and College Showcase Connection. Since 2009, she has worked closely with actors to build strong, strategic based careers. Shorey is a fellow working actor in theatre, film & TV, commercials, hosting, and industrials. Pursuing a career in theatre since 1992, Shorey has performed in 8 national tours, 13 years in a row of summer stock, 20+ regional theatre shows, 10+ Off-Broadway credits, and can be heard as The Cat In the Hat on the revival recording of "Seussical." Recent TV appearances include "Redrum," "Deadly Sins," "White Collar," and "One Life To Live." Shorey often works as an on-camera host for various medical tele-casts including a recent booking for Takeda in Los Angeles and Orlando.
