- What For? Who We Are and Why Are We Doing This?-
Quennect 4 Tribe is an arts and activism based collective effort from Chicago with a social agenda to promote social and community ties through art and activism while promoting culture.
Our newest endeavor is working and investing in local multicultural business owners. We want to revitalize their business models, their brand, and enable them with tools to give them a competitive edge. All small entrepreneurs face daunting odds. But for people of color, the hurdles are especially high. The main problem is the one built right into the capitalist system: big businesses with lots of capital crowd out and gobble up the smaller operations. Parallel to this, large corporations are always looking for new consumer markets, and one of the ways they find them is through gentrification.
Our first project is helping prep 10 pedicabs of Alado Pedicabs to hit the streets this summer. We want these pedicabs to show up at every corner of the city, festival, protest and be a testament to Chicago talent and resilience! The recent pedicab legislation hasn't stopped our passion in supporting Alado Pedicabs or generating more forms of green transportation. Chicago should do any and everything it can to encourage this pollution-less form of transportation instead of restricting it!
